About NEOS The New England Ophthalmological Society (NEOS) is a nonprofit professional organization serving ophthalmologists, trainees, and eye-care professionals throughout New England. We host four in-person educational meetings and one webinar each year. We are looking for a reliable, creative, and organized part-time Social Media Content Manager / Virtual Assistant to help us build awareness, excitement, and anticipation around our programming. The goal is to create a consistent, polished online presence that highlights our speakers, educational meetings, member community, and post-event takeaways. This is a long-term, low-hour role for someone comfortable with professional social media content, especially Instagram, LinkedIn, Canva, and short-form video editing. Responsibilities Social Media Content Creation Create clean, professional graphics for Instagram and LinkedIn using Canva or similar tools Develop speaker announcements, meeting promotions, countdown posts, and educational highlights Write concise, polished captions and appropriate hashtags for a physician and trainee audience Help create content that builds interest before meetings and keeps NEOS visible between events Short-Form Video Editing Edit short vertical videos and Instagram Reels, generally 15–45 seconds Create pre-meeting teaser videos using speaker information, event graphics, and supplied footage Edit on-site video clips into polished post-meeting highlight reels Add captions, text overlays, simple transitions, and professional background music when appropriate Repurpose selected video content for LinkedIn when relevant Posting and Scheduling Schedule and publish content on Instagram and LinkedIn Create and post Instagram Stories during meeting days using photos and short video clips supplied by the NEOS team Maintain a simple content calendar around upcoming meetings and major announcements Coordinate with NEOS leadership to obtain final approval before posting, particularly for speaker-related content Basic Analytics Track simple social-media metrics using Instagram Insights, LinkedIn analytics, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools. Provide a brief quarterly summary including: Follower growth Reach and engagement Top-performing posts and videos Brief observations on what content is generating the strongest response Expected Deliverables For Each In-Person Meeting: Four Per Year Before the meeting 1 meeting announcement post 1 speaker or program-highlight post 1 short teaser Reel/video Optional reminder/countdown Story or post as needed On the meeting day 3–5 Instagram Stories using provided photos and video clips 1 Instagram feed post or Reel 1 LinkedIn post highlighting the meeting or program After the meeting 1 short highlight Reel, approximately 20–45 seconds 1 LinkedIn recap post or short video highlighting key moments, speakers, or educational themes For the Annual Webinar 1 announcement post 1 reminder post or short teaser video 1 LinkedIn promotional post No live coverage or post-event highlight reel required Estimated Workload Typical workload: approximately 2–3 hours per week on average Meeting weeks: approximately 5–6 hours Estimated annual workload: approximately 45–55 hours Weekly limit: up to 5 hours, with flexibility around meeting dates Compensation $15/hour Paid quarterly Long-term engagement preferred A small paid test assignment may be requested from finalists before hiring Required Skills Experience editing Instagram Reels, TikTok-style short-form video, or other vertical social-media videos Comfort using Canva and/or basic graphic-design tools Experience with CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Canva Video, or similar editing software Strong written English and ability to write polished, professional captions Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, Instagram Insights, Meta Business Suite, or equivalent scheduling/analytics tools Reliable communication, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines Preferred, but Not Required Experience working with healthcare, medical education, professional societies, universities, or nonprofit organizations Experience promoting conferences, educational events, or professional meetings Familiarity with physician-facing or academic social-media communication To Apply Please include the word NEOS in the first line of your proposal so we know you read the full job description.
