Part-Time QA Tester (AI- Required) — SaaS Platform Launch (Restaurant/Hospitality Software)
Worldwide
## About the project We're ShiftForce (formerly ShiftNote), a B2B workforce management platform for restaurants and hospitality. We're weeks out from launching a major platform rebuild ("V4") and need a sharp, detail-oriented, **AI-fluent** tester to help us find and document bugs before customers do. Our small dev team (2 senior devs, 2 developers currently ramping up) is heads-down building — we need someone dedicated to *breaking things on purpose* and writing it up clearly so we can fix it fast. We're an AI-forward company (our internal QA process already runs on AI-generated test checklists, and our whole operation runs through AI tooling) — this role needs to fit that culture, not work around it. ## What you'll be testing - Core web app functionality across both our new UI and legacy/classic view: scheduling, daily log, tasks, messaging, documents, search, admin settings, forecasting - User role permissions (employee / manager / admin — each sees different things) - A new time & attendance / payroll integration (ADP) - Native iOS and Android mobile apps - Login / single sign-on flows - POS integrations (Toast, Aloha, Tabit) - Responsive behavior down to a 1280px minimum screen width You'll be testing both brand-new areas and regression-testing fixes as our devs push them, on a fast-moving daily cycle. ## What we need from you - **Required: active, daily use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) in your testing workflow** — generating test case matrices and edge cases from a feature description, drafting bug reports, summarizing screen recordings into tickets. Be ready to show or describe specifically how you use AI day-to-day when testing — generic "I've used ChatGPT before" answers won't move forward. - Proven manual/functional QA experience on a web-based SaaS product (B2B strongly preferred) - Ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports (steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual, screenshots or screen recordings) - Comfort testing across multiple user roles/permission levels and screen sizes - Self-directed — you'll get a checklist and access, and we need you to run with it without heavy hand-holding - Availability that overlaps with US Central Time business hours for daily check-ins - Experience with Jira (or similar) for ticket tracking **Nice to have:** - Background in restaurant/hospitality operations or scheduling software - Basic SQL, enough to spot-check data - Experience testing POS or payroll integrations - Screen recording tool fluency (Loom, Screen Studio, or similar) paired with AI-assisted ticket write-ups - Experience triaging new bugs against an existing backlog to flag likely duplicates before filing ## How to apply **Required:** Describe specifically how AI tools currently fit into your testing workflow — what you use, for what, and an example. Applications without a real answer here won't be considered. Also tell us about a time you found a bug that would've been embarrassing to ship, and how you documented it.
