Paid research study: record your normal work sessions on macOS About the project We're an AGI research lab training models to work on long-horizon capabilities of models. We want to enable models to work on tasks for weeks and months just like humans. To elicit such capabilities, we need to train models on data of people working days, weeks and months on a single project. For this we capture people using their computers in their day-to-day work over the course of months. The goal is to release the resulting dataset publicly under an open license (CC0) so the research community can use it to train and evaluate AI assistants. We're looking for skilled professionals who already do meaningful, focused, multi-week work on their own computers and are willing to record some of that work using our screen recording tool, in exchange for a flat rate. You are NOT being asked to do tasks for us. You're being asked to record yourself doing your own work that you'd be doing anyway. What you'll do - Install our open-source recording tool (macOS only). It captures your screen and input events while you work, and uploads recordings to our servers. - Record yourself doing your own research, your own projects, or your own self-directed professional work. Examples: design work in Figma, coding in your IDE, writing/research in a browser and word processor, data analysis in notebooks or spreadsheets, project management in Notion/Linear/Jira, CAD, simulation tools, video/photo editing etc. - Submit recordings of continuous focused work sessions, ideally days, weeks and months on a single project. We pay per month, provided that you submit qualifying recordings. What we're looking for - Sessions of coherent, focused work: meaning a continuous stretch of you working on a single project or related set of tasks. - Diverse application use: work that involves multiple tools, real workflows, switching between apps as you naturally would. - Real work: actual professional output you'd be doing anyway, not synthetic tasks created for this project. What we're NOT looking for - Recordings staged or fabricated for this project. We can tell, and it disqualifies the session. - Sessions consisting mostly of idle time, social media, video streaming, or non-work activity. - Sessions where you're working on highly sensitive content you don't want to share, private chats and/or meetings (see "What gets recorded" below. You control what you record). - Work that falls under NDA or includes non-sharable company IP Engagement structure - Trial: We start with a paid 1 day trial. You record a full day of work, we review them against our quality criteria, we either continue or part ways. Trial hours are paid regardless of outcome. - Ongoing: Just before starting your day, check if the application is still running (2min per day). - You retain full freedom to work on other projects, on Upwork or elsewhere, throughout the engagement. There is no exclusivity. - Equipment: You use your own computer (macOS only), your own software licenses, your own internet connection. Rate - $100 for qualifying recordings, paid via Upwork. - "Qualifying" means meeting the quality criteria above. Sessions that fail review are not paid; we will tell you why so you can adjust. - We pay monthly via Upwork. What gets recorded The application records: - Your screen (video). - Keyboard and mouse input events. - Application and window metadata. - Only applications that you choose on initial installation are recorded! It does NOT record: - Audio or microphone input. - Camera input. - Anything when the tool is paused or stopped. - Applications that you did not choose to record. You decide what to record. You can pause or stop the tool at any time. If something sensitive comes on screen (passwords, private messages, client confidential info), pause, handle it, and resume. If you accidentally record something sensitive, there is a feature to delete the last 10 minutes of recording. About the tool: The tool is open source. You can read exactly what it captures and how it uploads before granting permissions. Recordings upload to a private server accessible only to our team for quality review. Published sessions are released under CC0 as described below. Consent and dataset release You must only record work that you personally own or have permission to share publicly. Do not record client work, employer-confidential work, private messages, meetings, customer data, personal accounts, credentials, financial/medical/legal records, or anything covered by an NDA unless you have explicit written permission. By submitting recordings under this contract, you consent to: - Your recordings being included in a public research dataset, released under CC0 (public domain). - Use of the dataset by us and third parties for AI research and development. You retain no claim to the recordings once submitted and paid for. Full consent terms are provided before you start recording. Requirements - macOS (recent versions; we'll confirm compatibility before you start). - Stable internet (recordings are several GB per hour). However, you may pause upload and then resume it as you please. Recordings will be stored to your device until uploads are resumed. - A real, ongoing professional workflow, i.e., you're actively doing knowledge work that you can record. We can't use this if you'd have to invent work for it. - Comfortable installing a research tool that requires Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions.
