Payment Systems Expert | Stripe & Beyond Advisory role, not a developer job. Paid audit first, with possible ongoing advisory support. We run a consumer legal access service that handles tens of thousands of phone and online inquiries weekly. Too many ready-to-buy customers drop off at payment, confusing checkout, failed cards, broken 3DS, dead SMS links, or flows that don't suit a phone sale. We sell our own products directly (not a marketplace, no merchant onboarding, no collecting fees for attorneys). We need someone to audit our payment flows, find what's costing us conversions and triggering fraud/risk signals, and tell us exactly what to fix across Stripe Checkout, payment links, MOTO/phone-assisted entry, subscriptions, trials, recovery flows, and alternate methods (Apple Pay, ACH, etc.). This is bigger than "I set up Stripe Checkout"; we want someone who's lived through false declines, 3DS friction, processor reviews, chargebacks, and failed-subscription recovery. Phase 1 deliverable: paid audit + roadmap A written audit of our current setup, a flow-by-flow risk/conversion assessment, and a prioritized fix list (quick wins → architecture changes) with specific Stripe recommendations (PaymentIntents, Subscriptions, MOTO, Radar, descriptors, metadata, webhooks, retry logic, 3DS), failure/fallback messaging, a monitoring plan, and a processor-readiness memo. You should have Hands-on payment strategy experience: Stripe, subscriptions, fraud/risk, disputes, chargebacks, and checkout optimization. You must also have directly managed Stripe compliance (account reviews, risk/underwriting requirements, descriptor and policy compliance, dispute/chargeback thresholds) for previous companies and be able to name them. Bonus: Braintree/PayPal, Adyen, Authorize.net, NMI, Worldpay, merchant-account underwriting, multi-processor routing, or high-volume phone-sales businesses.
