Photoshop Asset Artist

We’re looking for an experienced Photoshop artist to help create the entire visual experience of a handcrafted War Table for a top down strategy game. You will work directly with our programmer and designer to design a handcrafted raster walnut or hickory War Table, along with handcrafted wooden terrain, towns, hand carved wooden figurines, and the modular assets that bring the battlefield to life. To help visualize the aesthetic, think of a grand War Table similar to the map room seen during the opening sequence of Game of Thrones. The comparison is simply a visual reference. Imagine a massive command table crafted from rich walnut or hickory beneath warm overhead lighting. The table itself should feel like a work of art. Every mountain, forest, lake, road, town, and hand carved wooden figurine rests upon its surface. The battlefield is intentionally abstract and low relief, making it easy to read while remaining elegant and inviting. We want players to admire the table before they even begin playing. Requirements 1. Expert in Adobe Photoshop. 2. Comfortable working with raster artwork. 3. Experience creating game assets, preferably for top down strategy games. 4. Able to follow a strict visual style guide. 5. Strong understanding of lighting. 6. Artwork must have no directional bias. Every asset should look natural regardless of how it is rotated. 7. Comfortable creating modular, reusable assets. 8. Able to maintain consistent scale between all terrain objects, figurines, and interface elements. 9. Able to create Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter versions while preserving each asset’s shape and footprint. 10. Excellent attention to detail and consistency. 11. Understands that assets are functional game pieces as well as artwork. 12. Comfortable working within a programmer driven production pipeline. 13. Communicates clearly and asks questions before assuming. 14. Takes feedback well and revises carefully. 15. Reliable, responsive, and able to meet deadlines. 16. Passion for creating beautiful, handcrafted artwork and taking pride in every detail. Although consistency is essential, imagination is equally important. We want artists who enjoy creating worlds that feel nostalgic, handcrafted, and full of character. Think of the charm found in classic storybooks, handcrafted toys, Willy Wonka, Babes in Toyland, The Nutcracker, or a beautifully crafted antique toy shop. Follow the visual style carefully, but bring your imagination with you. We welcome thoughtful artistic ideas that make the world feel warm, memorable, and alive.
