Plastics Design Engineer

ABOUT OUR COMPANY Hi! We are bilateralstimulation.io. We enable psychotherapists to offer EMDR therapy online. Over 40,000 therapists use our software & our complementary hardware to treat trauma patients globally. Founded 5 years ago and headquartered in Berlin, the company has grown into a small remote team and is fully self-funded and profitable. We are now looking for a hands-on Plastics Design Engineer Freelancer to work with us on a couple of hardware projects. You will work directly with one of our co-founders (Benjamin), our Business Operations Manager (Sara), and external stakeholders like our injection molding partner. You will be able to work remotely and during whichever hours work best for you. If you are based in Berlin, there will also be the option to work together in-person. —————————————————— WHAT YOU WILL DO Improve existing plastic parts: Refine the design and mold of an existing part to increase manufacturability and production quality. New plastic parts: Lead the plastics work for new parts — from iterative 3D-printed prototypes through to transitioning the final design into injection molding. Production protocols & quality assurance: Define and implement production and QA protocols together with our manufacturing partner to ensure consistent quality across batches. Manufacturing partner collaboration: Act as the technical counterpart to our 3D printing and injection molding partners, ensuring production runs smoothly and new parts reach production quickly. —————————————————— WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Plastics engineering expertise across 3D printing and injection molding: You have hands-on experience designing small plastic parts for both prototyping (3D printing) and production (injection molding). You have taken products from prototype to mass production and understand DFM. Strong 3D CAD skills: You are fluent in 3D CAD (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar) and can iterate on existing part designs as well as create new ones from scratch. Full English proficiency: You are confident working in English. Independent remote worker: You thrive in a remote setup and are comfortable working independently. Intrinsic motivation: You want to work with us because you like the product and the vision of the company.
