Position: Book Publishing Project Manager / Publishing Producer Overview We're seeking an experienced publishing professional who can take a nonfiction manuscript from a polished draft to a professionally published, market-ready book. This role combines editorial oversight, publishing expertise, project management, and book launch strategy. The ideal candidate has experience delivering a complete publishing process similar to firms such as Scribe Media, Amplify Publishing, Forbes Books, or other premium independent publishers. Responsibilities Editorial & Manuscript Development Evaluate manuscripts and recommend improvements. Coordinate developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading. Book doctor and strengthen manuscripts where appropriate. Ensure the manuscript is publication-ready. Design & Production Manage professional cover design. Oversee interior book design and layout. Coordinate typography and formatting for print and ebook. Ensure files meet Amazon KDP and IngramSpark specifications. Coordinate illustrations, graphics, and permissions if needed. Publishing Management Obtain ISBNs and barcodes. Manage copyright registration (if applicable). Prepare metadata, categories, keywords, and book descriptions. Publish to: Amazon IngramSpark Additional distribution platforms when appropriate Coordinate ebook and paperback production. Marketing & Launch Develop a comprehensive launch strategy. Execute Amazon bestseller campaigns. Recommend appropriate categories and keyword strategy. Coordinate ARC/review campaigns. Assist with Amazon Author Central optimization. Coordinate launch emails, social media assets, and promotional materials. Manage launch timeline and milestone execution. Project Management Coordinate editors, designers, formatters, and contractors. Manage project timelines and budgets. Serve as the primary point of contact from manuscript through launch. Ensure quality control throughout the publishing process. Qualifications Required experience: 5+ years in nonfiction publishing. Demonstrated experience managing books from manuscript through publication. Experience publishing through Amazon KDP and IngramSpark. Strong understanding of nonfiction book positioning. Experience coordinating freelance editors and designers. Excellent project management skills. Preferred experience: Amazon bestseller campaign experience. Book launch strategy. Author platform development. Experience working with executives, entrepreneurs, or thought leaders. Marketing strategy for nonfiction books.
