Power BI Specialist (Level 2)

Work location - Saudi, from Riyadh Position Title Power BI Specialist (Level 2) Department Information Technology / Data & Analytics Reports To Senior Power BI Specialist (L3) / BI Lead / Analytics Manager ________________________________________ Job Summary The Power BI Specialist (L2) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The role focuses on creating reports, dashboards, data models, and visualizations while collaborating with business users and senior BI specialists to deliver reliable analytical solutions. The L2 specialist also provides advanced operational support, resolves medium-complexity incidents, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Power BI Development • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop. • Build reusable datasets and semantic models. • Create KPIs, scorecards, and operational reports. • Develop drill-down, drill-through, bookmarks, and slicers. • Publish reports to Power BI Service. • Maintain and enhance existing dashboards. Power Query (M) • Import and transform data. • Merge and append queries. • Clean and standardize datasets. • Create reusable queries. • Troubleshoot refresh failures. Data Sources Work with data from: • SQL Server • Azure SQL • Excel • CSV • SharePoint Lists • Oracle (basic) Power BI Service • Publish reports and datasets. • Configure scheduled refreshes. • Manage workspaces. • Configure report subscriptions. • Monitor refresh history. • Support deployment activities. Performance Optimization • Improve report loading performance. • Optimize visuals. • Reduce unnecessary DAX calculations. • Optimize Power Query transformations. • Monitor dataset refresh performance. Operational Support (L2) • Resolve medium-complexity Power BI incidents. • Investigate failed dataset refreshes. • Troubleshoot report performance issues. • Support business users. • Escalate complex issues to L3. • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues. ________________________________________ Documentation • Prepare technical documentation. • Document datasets and reports. • Maintain report inventory. • Update knowledge base articles. • Create user guides. Preferred Certifications Microsoft • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) • ITIL® Foundation
