Sr. Product Design Engineer

About the Project We are developing a next-generation Counter-UAS (Drone Defense) system and are looking for an experienced Freelance Product Designer to support our engineering team in transforming functional prototypes into robust, manufacturable, and field-ready products. Your Responsibilities Design and optimize mechanical housings, enclosures, and external components for defense and autonomous systems. Develop professional product concepts, CAD models, and design proposals. Collaborate closely with hardware, electronics, and software engineers. Improve ergonomics, maintainability, manufacturability, and ruggedization of the system. Create design documentation, renderings, and production-ready drawings. Support rapid prototyping and iterative product development. Ensure designs meet operational requirements for harsh outdoor environments. Your Profile Proven experience in industrial design, product design, or mechanical design. Strong CAD skills (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, Creo, NX, or similar). Experience designing products for aerospace, defense, robotics, drones, automotive, or industrial applications. Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and additive manufacturing. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team. Experience with ruggedized or mission-critical products is highly desirable. Nice to Have Experience with UAVs, autonomous systems, defense technology, or robotics. Knowledge of IP ratings, environmental protection, vibration resistance, and military-grade design considerations. Experience preparing products for low-volume and scalable production.
