Product Designer for Safety Bump Cap
Worldwide
We are looking for an experienced product designer to develop concept designs for a new safety bump cap. The goal is to modernize the appearance of this type of protective headwear and create a product that combines functionality, safety, and a contemporary, sporty aesthetic. We want to challenge the traditional look of bump caps and explore what a modern safety product for today’s industrial worker could look like. Scope of Work The designer will be responsible for developing three different design concepts, all based on the same overall design idea and product direction. The concepts should explore different interpretations and executions while maintaining a coherent design language. The work will include: Conducting a brief analysis of existing bump caps and relevant headwear products on the market. Identifying opportunities to improve the visual appearance and perceived value of the product. Developing a modern, innovative and sporty design direction suitable for industrial environments. Creating three distinct product concepts based on the same core idea. Producing clear, high-quality conceptual product images/renders that allow us to understand what the final product could potentially look like. Presenting the concepts so that we can discuss, compare and select a direction for further product development. You do not need to represent final engineering or production-ready designs, but the design should provide a strong and realistic visual foundation for further development. Design Direction We are looking for a design that feels: Modern Sporty Innovative Functional Confident Industrial, but not traditional or outdated The product must remain appropriate for the application and environment in which a bump cap is used. Functionality, ergonomics and practicality should therefore be considered throughout the design process. Our ambition is to create something that a modern, innovative industrial worker would actually want to wear — a product that feels more like contemporary performance equipment than conventional industrial PPE. Ideal Designer The ideal candidate has: Proven experience designing headwear, helmets, caps or other products worn on the head. A strong understanding of product form, proportions and ergonomics. Experience developing conceptual product designs and visualizing products through high-quality renders or product illustrations. The ability to translate a general design direction into several strong and distinctive concepts. An understanding of how aesthetics, functionality and the intended use environment need to work together. A creative and forward-thinking approach to product design. Experience with industrial products, PPE, sports equipment or performance-oriented products is a strong advantage. Deliverables The expected deliverable is: Three clearly differentiated concept designs for a safety bump cap, including high-quality conceptual product visuals that allow us to evaluate the designs and determine which direction should be taken into further product development. We are looking for a designer who can think beyond existing bump cap designs, challenge conventional aesthetics and help us establish a new, modern visual direction for the category.
