Product Development Manager CPG — Food & Beverage, Pet, Beauty Location: Remote (Los Angeles, CA based company) Type: Full-Time Experience: 5–10 Years Salary: $1,500 - $2,500 About the Role We're looking for a driven and detail-oriented Product Development Manager with prior experience in CPG, food & beverage, pet, beauty, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing. You'll join our team and serve as the central engine behind new products, product modifications, new size launches, a packaging overhaul, and product line management across our portfolio of brands. This is a cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of product, sourcing, and brand — and the right person thrives in both strategic and hands-on environments. You'll partner closely with our brand teams, business managers, and procurement specialist to take product changes from concept to completion. You'll own the full lifecycle of each project and keep all the moving parts aligned. What You'll Do Product Development & Modification Lead and execute new products OR product changes across multiple brands — including new sizes, format changes, material updates, modifications, and dimension adjustments Translate brand and business team requests into clear, actionable product specifications Proactively identify opportunities for product line extensions or improvements across the portfolio Review and approve spec sheets, prototypes, and samples to ensure they meet brand and quality standards Portfolio Knowledge & Product Consistency Maintain a deep, working knowledge of the full product catalog across brands — understanding what exists, what is in development, and how products relate to each other across sizes and variants Proactively identify and resolve inconsistencies across the portfolio — for example, if one size of a product carries a benefit or feature that another size does not, you flag it and drive alignment Audit product lines for discrepancies in specs, sizing, materials, or benefit claims and develop a plan to bring them into consistency Partner with project managers and growth managers who own the catalog to ensure product development decisions are grounded in the full picture of what exists Maintain organized records of product specs, supplier details, and project timelines to support cross-team visibility Supplier & Procurement Collaboration Work alongside our procurement specialist to source and qualify suppliers based on product requirements Hand off supplier relationships once specifications are finalized, while staying engaged through launch to ensure alignment Evaluate supplier capabilities against technical and brand requirements Cross-Brand Coordination Act as the central point of contact between brand teams, business managers, procurement, and operations Manage multiple projects simultaneously across brands without letting anything fall through the cracks Communicate project status, timelines, risks, and decisions clearly to all stakeholders Sometimes you'll lead a project from scratch — other times you'll be handed a request and execute it. You're equally comfortable with both. What We're Looking For Experience & Background 5–10 years of experience in product development, product management, or a closely related role Background in CPG, food & beverage, pet, beauty, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing Proven track record managing product changes across multiple brands or product lines simultaneously Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment Skills & Abilities Technically literate — you can read a spec sheet, understand materials and tolerances, and speak the language of consumer goods manufacturing Hands-on experience with packaging development — dimensions, materials, structural specs, and print specs are not foreign to you Strong project management skills — you keep projects on track without micromanaging Excellent communicator across all levels, from the factory floor to brand leadership Highly organized with strong attention to detail, especially when managing a large catalog of SKUs Self-starter who can identify what needs to be done without being told, but also executes well when given direction Comfortable with ambiguity — you can figure things out as you go Nice to Have Prior experience supporting or working within a procurement function Experience managing private label or multi-brand portfolios Who You'll Work With You'll be embedded in a collaborative environment where you interact daily with brand teams, business managers, and our procurement specialist. You won't have direct reports in this role — but you'll have significant influence across the organization. The right person for this role leads through expertise, relationships, and results. We are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
