OVERVIEW We are looking for an experienced technical writer to produce a print-ready instructional booklet for a Bluetooth-connected consumer wellness electronic device. The booklet will be included in product packaging and must satisfy the documentation requirements for FCC, CE, RCM, and RoHS certification. This is a compact, well-designed product targeting health-conscious adults. The booklet must reflect a premium brand tone — clean, minimal, and confident — not generic or clinical. SCOPE OF WORK 1. Instructional booklet (print-ready PDF + editable source file) - Small-format booklet sized for inclusion in product packaging (approx. 100mm x 70mm or similar — exact dimensions to be confirmed) - Content to cover: product overview, device anatomy and components, initial setup and charging, Bluetooth pairing and app download, configuration of removable components, daily use, indicator light meanings, troubleshooting, cleaning and care, technical specifications, regulatory and safety information, warranty/support contact - We will supply a draft of the general instructions — your role includes reviewing, technically rewriting where needed, and ensuring completeness against certification requirements - Tone: clear, concise, and premium. Not overly technical. Not clinical. 2. Line illustrations - 5–8 vector line drawings (Adobe Illustrator or equivalent) suitable for single-colour or two-colour print - Required illustrations (indicative): labelled device anatomy diagram, charging diagram, component setup, app pairing flow, regulatory symbols page - Clean, minimal style consistent with a premium consumer product 3. Layout and print production - Fully typeset and print-ready PDF, formatted for professional offset or digital printing - All fonts embedded, bleeds and crop marks included - Supplied as PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 suitable for handoff to a print factory - Source files (InDesign or equivalent) supplied on completion CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS This is an important part of the brief. The booklet must include all documentation required under: - FCC Part 15 (US) - CE marking (EU/UK — specifically the Radio Equipment Directive and RoHS Directive) - RCM (Australia) Required regulatory content includes but is not limited to: FCC compliance statement, FCC interference notice, CE declaration of conformity reference, RoHS compliance statement, battery disposal / WEEE symbols and statements, RF exposure information, country-specific operating restrictions (if applicable), and manufacturer/importer details. We require a freelancer who is familiar with these requirements from prior work — not someone who will be researching them for the first time on this job. DELIVERABLES - Print-ready PDF (booklet format, impositioned for printing) - Source files (InDesign or equivalent) - Vector illustration files (AI or EPS) - A brief compliance checklist confirming each regulatory requirement has been addressed TIMELINE First draft within 10 business days of brief handover.
