Summary

Professional Book Designer/Typesetter Needed for Non-Fiction Guide Book - Standard Book (5.5"x8.5")+ Ebook - You must know IngramSpark and their requirements. I am a boutique publishing house and my author has written a guide book for women who want to create and lead transformational retreats. The book combines leadership wisdom, practical frameworks, and implementation guidance. It needs to feel sophisticated, intentional, and grounded What I'm Looking For Someone who understands that non-fiction guide books serve a function. The design should support the reader's journey through the material, not distract from it. I need typography and layout that feels premium without being fussy. Clear hierarchy. Breathing room on the page. Frameworks and concepts need to land visually. I need someone who knows what they are doing and can make suggestions to best suit the book The Scope - Full book design and typesetting (manuscript is approximately 56,000 words) - Includes chapter openings, section breaks, pull quotes, text boxes, callouts for key frameworks - Considerations for both print and digital (ebook) versions - Management of fonts, spacing, visual consistency across all elements - Print-ready production files - Cover design is already completed What you get - The Manuscript - Non-fiction business/self-development guide - Structured with chapters, frameworks, reflective prompts, case examples - Images to be inserted What Matters to Me - I don't want design that looks like "Millennial Business Book #47." The design should feel like the content—experienced, elegant, purposeful. - Readability first- If it doesn't make the text easier to read and navigate, it doesn't belong. - Respect for white space. Dense pages feel overwhelming. This needs breathing room. - Frameworks and concepts land visually. Where the use of frameworks (steps, models, processes), the layout should make them immediately clear. - Print quality. This book will be printed well. I want it to feel substantial in hand. Timeline & Next Steps Let's start with a design proposal. I'd want to see: - Sample chapter layouts (2-3 variations) - Font selections with rationale - How you'd handle the frameworks and callouts - General aesthetic direction From there we can discuss revisions, timeline, and budget. About You Ideally, you've typeset other non-fiction guides or business books. You understand hierarchy and flow. You can take direction on vision without needing every detail spelled out. You're comfortable asking clarifying questions when something needs more definition. If you've worked on books in the coaching, development, or mindset space, even better, you'll understand the audience.
