Project Brief – Portuguese Book Editor & Literary Rewriter (European Portuguese)

I am looking for an exceptional native European Portuguese writer and editor to help transform an existing nonfiction manuscript into a publication-quality book. This is not a proofreading job, and it is not ghostwriting from scratch. The structure, ideas, research, and most of the content already exist. The manuscript has been built from dozens of hours of conversations, transcripts, personal notes, and previous writing. What I need is someone capable of shaping all of that into a book that reads naturally, has a strong narrative flow, and feels like it was written by an accomplished Portuguese author. The first project is approximately 40,000–60,000 words (final length may vary). If the collaboration goes well, there will be a second book immediately afterwards. About the Book The first book explores themes such as: Education Freedom Human nature Society Curiosity Philosophy Psychology Personal development Culture Conversations as a way of thinking Rather than presenting rigid conclusions, the book invites readers to question assumptions and explore paradoxes through stories, reflections and ideas. The writing should feel intellectually stimulating while remaining highly accessible. What I Need Your role is to improve the manuscript while preserving: The author's ideas The author's personality and voice The original meaning The emotional tone The authenticity of the conversations You should feel comfortable: Reorganising paragraphs when it improves readability. Improving transitions between ideas. Eliminating repetition. Tightening weak sections. Strengthening narrative flow. Suggesting structural improvements. Making the text feel cohesive from beginning to end. I'm not looking for someone who simply rewrites sentences one by one. I'm looking for someone capable of making the book significantly better while respecting the author's intent. Writing Style The final book should feel: Natural Elegant Human Thought-provoking Intelligent without sounding academic Warm Conversational Reflective Easy to read Literary without becoming overly poetic Think of the kind of nonfiction book that people underline, return to, and recommend to friends. Requirements Native European Portuguese speaker. Proven experience editing or rewriting nonfiction books. Strong literary writing skills. Excellent sense of rhythm, pacing and narrative. Comfortable working with philosophical, psychological or reflective subjects. Able to preserve an author's voice instead of replacing it with your own. Comfortable challenging the structure when necessary if it improves the final result.
