Proofreading

I STRAD is a 52,000 word work of faction (fact + fiction) based on the true story of a famous case about a stolen violin. The story is told in the voice of the violin. I need a proofreader who is comfortable with minimalist prose. I often build sentences like beats in a song: short, clipped units, glued together by unconventional transitions, repetition, rather than by traditional grammar and logical “that/then/because,” I favor short, declarative sentences and fragments that read almost like bullet points or lyrics. There are no quotation marks around direct quotes. I use the historical present wherever possible with minimal use of articles. I use a lot of present participles. Whereas traditional realist prose often smooths ideas into complex sentences with subordinate clauses, I frequently employ cuts at the clause level, turning what could be one syntactically correct sentence into multiple trimmed units. I need the proofreader to leave the stylistic choices as is, but look for consistency in punctuation and the formatting of titles of music pieces, newspaper and magazine titles and content, etc. Because the minimalist style is unusual, the most important thing is to ensure consistency.
