Traditional Publishing Consultant – Non-Fiction Publisher Outreach & Submission We are seeking an experienced publishing professional to assist a published non-fiction author in identifying and approaching suitable traditional publishers. Important: The manuscript is complete. We are not seeking editing, proofreading, developmental editing, manuscript assessments, book coaching, ghostwriting, formatting, or self-publishing services. The author is a retired professor, published author, and public intellectual. The manuscript is approximately 46,000 words and explores themes of responsibility, critical thinking, history, psychology, education, social engagement, and hope in contemporary society. Our objective is to find the strongest traditional publishing opportunities for this completed manuscript. Scope of Work Research and identify appropriate traditional publishers Assess publisher fit and submission requirements Recommend Canadian, U.S., and international publishing opportunities Prepare and organize submission materials where required Submit materials on the author's behalf where permitted Track submissions and responses Advise on overall publisher strategy and positioning Identify opportunities beyond publishers if appropriate (specialized presses, academic presses, hybrid opportunities, etc.) Ideal Candidate Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Traditional publishing and publisher acquisitions Serious non-fiction and narrative non-fiction History, social issues, philosophy, education, psychology, or current affairs publishing Holocaust studies, genocide studies, antisemitism, human rights, or related historical subject matter Working with academics, professors, researchers, or thought-leadership authors Successfully placing non-fiction manuscripts with publishers We are seeking someone who understands how to position intellectually rigorous non-fiction for both commercial and academic publishing markets. Please Include A summary of your publishing experience. Examples of non-fiction projects you have helped place with publishers. Any experience working with Holocaust-related, historical, academic, or serious non-fiction subject matter. Your approach to publisher research, outreach, and submissions. We are specifically seeking expertise in publisher identification, outreach, submissions, and publishing strategy.
