RR_499915 Bilingual Code-Switching Recording project (English B2 & Native Japanese)

BILINGUAL PAIRS WANTED – BIG PROJECT! We’re looking for pre-formed pairs (friends, family, or colleagues) to join a fast-paced voice recording pilot – with 700+ hours waiting if we succeed! We need natives in: Japanese with B2 English level Updated Pilot Scope & Requirements • Pilot Volume: 50 hours • Timeline: Starting this week; must be completed within 3 weeks. • Future Opportunity: If this pilot is successful, the full project may involve 700 hours. • Task: Participants will record natural, spontaneous conversations in bilingual pairs (2 people per session), alternating between English and the target language (code-switching). • Target Languages: Japanese • Language Proficiency: Strictly B2 (CEFR) or higher in both languages. • Compliance (Mandarin): Must reside outside of mainland China. • Age, Gender & Diversity: Sourcing must target a strict 50/50 gender split. Sourcing must cover adult speakers across diverse age groups: 18–25, 25–40, 40–65, 65+. Strictly no minors under 18. • Sample Data Deadline: We must submit 20 unique speakers (10 conversations, ~25 mins each) by July 22. Sourcing & Recording Coordination Rules • Partner Coordination: You must pair the participants and coordinate directly with them to set up and complete their recording sessions. No participant should record alone; they must record as a coordinated, approved pair. • Audio Quality: Ensure the recordings are taken in a quiet environment, low-noise environment (no background hums, echo, or traffic; target SNR floor is ~20–25 dB). They must record using a desktop computer with a stable external microphone or headset. It is preferred to automatically guarantee clear, channel-separated WAV files ( 16 kHz WAV audio) • Topics: Conversations must be natural and spontaneous — not a monologue or scripted role-play. • Code-Switching Targets: Brief the speakers that they need to switch languages naturally. We are aiming for 80% of our sessions to be "light-switching" (5–14% English words) and 20% to be "heavy-switching" (15–25% English words). True code-switching is required within sentences (phrase or clause level). Simply using isolated English loanwords, brand names, or translating haltingly will be rejected. Action Required Please provide the following as soon as possible: 1. Pilot Rates: Please provide a rate card for this 50-hour pilot phase. 2. Weekly Delivery Capacity: Maximum hours per language we can realistically deliver weekly. 3. Total Capacity: Maximum hours per language for the 3-week pilot window. Recommended Samples: • All samples must be completed and delivered to us before our deadline on July 22nd.
