React Native Developer (Expo + Firebase) — Ongoing Part-Time

I'm the founder of a live, revenue-generating mobile game (small team, 1 founder/developer, 1 marketer/social media). The app is on the App Store, Google Play, and the web (React Native + react-native-web). I've built the entire app myself and I'm looking for a reliable part-time developer to work alongside me on a backlog of well-scoped features while I handle the deeper architecture. This is ongoing, long-term part-time work — starting around 20-30 hrs/month and scaling to 60-80 hrs/month for the right person. I want a lasting working relationship, not a one-off project. THE STACK • React Native + Expo • JavaScript / TypeScript • Firebase (Firestore, Auth) • react-native-web WHAT YOU'D WORK ON Self-contained product features — not the core engine: • New UI screens and features built from specs • Push notifications, user streaks & achievements, content management screens • Quality-of-life improvements and small bug fixes • Clean, reviewable pull requests on GitHub WHAT YOU WON'T TOUCH I personally handle the native audio engine, low-level native modules, and payment/account systems. Your lane is app features where we can move fast and iterate safely. IMPORTANT: The app has an established design token system and component library. You'll build within it — using existing tokens and primitives rather than introducing hardcoded colors or one-off styles. If you think something in the system is wrong, tell me and we'll fix it at the source. WHO I'M LOOKING FOR • Has actually shipped a React Native app — personal, freelance, or job • Comfortable with Expo, Firebase, and a Git/GitHub PR workflow • Clear written English and proactive async communication • Uses AI coding tools well — and knows when not to trust them • Understands this is a LIVE app with real users: you test your changes and don't push confident guesses HOW THIS WORKS • I keep 2-3 scoped tickets in flight, each with an hour estimate • Hard rule: if a task will exceed its estimate by more than ~50%, you stop and message me BEFORE burning the hours • Weekly invoice, weekly PR review • We start with one small paid trial task (~$150-250) so we can both see how we work together before scaling up hours When you apply, please link a React Native app you've shipped and tell me what YOU specifically built in it.
