Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Nutritionist (Consultant) Alternatives, Inc. — Naugatuck, CT Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) to serve as a consulting Nutritionist supporting the individuals in our residential and community programs. Position Summary The Nutritionist provides contracted nutrition consultation services on a scheduled and as-needed basis. Working collaboratively with program managers, direct support staff, and each individual's care team, the Nutritionist helps ensure that the people we serve receive safe, balanced, and person-centered nutrition supports. Key Responsibilities Complete nutritional assessments for individuals served and develop or update individualized nutrition plans, including modified-texture and therapeutic diets as prescribed Review and approve program menus for nutritional adequacy, dietary restrictions, and physician-ordered diets Provide practical training and guidance to staff on meal preparation, portioning, special diets, and safe feeding practices Monitor weight trends and nutrition-related health concerns, and recommend interventions to the care team Document all consultations and maintain records consistent with agency policy and applicable state requirements Qualifications Current registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration; Connecticut certification as a dietitian-nutritionist will need to be obtained. Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to translate clinical recommendations into practical guidance for non-clinical staff
