Required Freelance CPA, residence & licensed in Montana State

**Company:** B4Q Assurance CPA PC **Location:** Remote (Applicants must hold an active Montana CPA license) **Contract Type:** Independent Freelance Contract **Compensation:** USD $20–$40 per hour (depending on experience and engagement requirements) ## About the Opportunity B4Q Assurance CPA PC is seeking an experienced **Montana-licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA)** to support accounting, assurance, tax, compliance, and advisory engagements on a freelance basis. This is a project-based independent contractor opportunity. Work assignments will be provided based on client needs, and there is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours or ongoing work. ## Scope of Work Depending on the engagement, responsibilities may include: * Review financial statements, general ledgers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. * Assist with audit, review, compilation, and agreed-upon procedures engagements. * Prepare and review engagement workpapers. * Support federal and Montana tax compliance and tax return preparation. * Assist with SOC 1, SOC 2, internal control, and compliance engagements. * Perform analytical procedures, testing, sampling, and documentation review. * Identify accounting, reporting, and internal control matters. * Prepare adjustment schedules, engagement summaries, and client information requests. * Participate in virtual meetings when required. * Review bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable records. * Assist with financial reporting under applicable accounting standards. * Complete assigned work within agreed project timelines. * Maintain confidentiality of all client and firm information. ## Required Qualifications * Active and unrestricted Montana State CPA license. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * Experience in public accounting, audit, tax, assurance, or financial reporting. * Working knowledge of US GAAP and applicable professional standards. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and common accounting software. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently in a remote environment. * Reliable internet connection for virtual collaboration. ## Preferred Experience * Audit, review, or compilation engagements. * SOC 1 and/or SOC 2 examinations. * Internal control evaluations and risk assessments. * Federal and state business taxation. * Experience serving small and medium-sized businesses. * Familiarity with CPA firm quality management processes. ## What We're Looking For Successful freelancers will consistently deliver: * Accurate and well-documented work. * Timely completion of assigned deliverables. * Clear communication throughout engagements. * Professional judgment and attention to detail. * Compliance with applicable professional and ethical standards. * Respect for client confidentiality. ## Contract Details * Remote freelance opportunity through Upwork. * Flexible, assignment-based workload. * Projects will be offered based on client demand and mutual availability. * Compensation will be agreed upon before each engagement. * Payment is made through Upwork in accordance with completed and approved project work.
