Research Assistant (Brazil) – Data Validation for Political Dataset

We are looking for a research assistant based in Brazil to help validate matches in a dataset related to Brazilian politics. This is part of an academic research project. The main task involves reviewing pairs of individuals and determining whether they are likely related (e.g., family ties) based on information such as names, surnames, municipality, and political affiliation. This is a detail-oriented task that requires consistency and careful judgment. Responsibilities: Review pairs of individuals in Excel spreadsheets Validate whether two individuals are likely a correct match based on predefined criteria Follow a coding guide with clear rules and examples Record decisions in a structured format (including notes for unclear cases) Flag uncertain or ambiguous cases rather than guessing Maintain consistency across all entries Requirements: - Native or fluent Portuguese - Familiarity with the Brazilian political context - Strong attention to detail - Experience with data entry - Ability to follow detailed instructions carefully - Basic Excel skills (no advanced tools required) Preferred (not required): - Experience with research assistance or coding tasks - Familiarity with Brazilian elections or candidate data Project Details: - Location: Brazil preferred Estimated workload: 10-15hours/week Timeline: June-July 2026 Work will be completed using Excel templates provided Training & Support: You will receive a detailed instruction guide with examples. The PI is available to answer questions, and we will clarify any uncertainties before and during the task. Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a small paid test task to assess accuracy and consistency. Communication: Communication can be in Portuguese.
