# Research Journalist & Data Report Writer (Freelance / Contract) ## About The Role We are looking for a research-driven journalist to create original industry reports, investigations, experiments, and data-led studies across multiple sectors including finance, technology, cybersecurity, AI, home improvement, health, consumer products, and business. The ideal candidate combines investigative journalism, data analysis, and storytelling to produce reports that can be used for media outreach, digital PR campaigns, and thought leadership. ## Responsibilities * Design and execute original research projects. * Analyze products, services, apps, websites, tools, or industry trends. * Conduct hands-on testing and experiments. * Gather data from public sources, APIs, surveys, research papers, and industry reports. * Verify findings through fact-checking and source validation. * Identify newsworthy insights, trends, and statistics. * Write detailed reports supported by evidence and methodology. * Create charts, tables, and visual summaries when needed. * Develop media-friendly findings and headline opportunities. * Work with our PR team to ensure reports are journalist-ready. ## Requirements * 3+ years of journalism, research, analyst, or investigative writing experience. * Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. * Ability to independently design research methodologies. * Experience working with spreadsheets and data analysis tools. * Ability to interpret statistics and communicate findings clearly. * Strong fact-checking standards. * Excellent written English. * Familiarity with AI tools for research support while maintaining editorial accuracy. ## Nice To Have * Experience with financial markets, cybersecurity, AI, consumer technology, or home improvement industries. * Survey design experience. * Data visualization skills. * Experience contributing to major publications or research organizations. ## Deliverables For each project: * Research methodology document * Data collection and source list * Full written report * Executive summary * Key findings section * Media angles and headline recommendations * Supporting charts or visual assets (where applicable) ## What Success Looks Like The finished report should: * Be based on original research or testing. * Include transparent methodology. * Contain unique findings journalists can cite. * Be factually rigorous. * Generate multiple media outreach angles from a single piece of research. ## Application Requirements Please provide: 1.
