Summary

I am installing an egress window in the basement of my residential home in New York, zip code 14227. In order to apply for a building permit, I need a structural engineer to review plans and provide a PE Stamp for the structural change to the foundation. I have already created drawings with all measurements, although they are not done in AutoCAD, I created these myself using Adobe Illustrator. The project task involves: - reviewing my submitted drawings and measurements, and if needed, converting them to a standard construction format that would be accepted by the town for a building permit. - confirm structurally this is a sound building plan for the modification of the foundation. I have reviewed requirements based on IRC and RCNYS building codes. - provide a PE Stamp on the drawings suitable for building permit submission Additional Project Details: - House built in 2003, 2-story residential home. The floor joists run North-South for the first and second floor. The attic and roof joists run East-West to support the roof, which is a cross-hip style construction - The exterior wall to be modified is not a floor load-bearing wall. The floor joists run parallel to this exterior wall. It is however a roof load-bearing wall, as the joists in the attic run perpendicular to the exterior wall to be modified. - 8" poured concrete foundation with a foundation height of 90.5" - Existing window space has a 33" W x 16" H glass block window that does not use a metal support frame - is uses glass block up to the existing sill plate. New window will enlarge opening to 51" W x 55" H to accommodate framing buck, structural header, and 48x48 window. - A structural header, 2x10x10, has already been installed to sister the rim joist above the space, to allow for support during cutting/removal of the foundation. This is noted on the attached drawings. - In addition to the already added structural header, I will be adding a (2) 2x6 header above the new window for additional support. The widened opening will have additional support both above the sill plate (sistered rim joist), and below the sill plate with a (2) 2x6 header, supported by jack studs. Price is negotiable based on scope of requirements to provide an acceptable PE Stamped plan for the building permit.
