We're looking for a freelance Research Analyst & Report Writer to help transform this data into compelling, publication-ready research that restaurant leaders actually want to read. About the Role This is part restaurant analyst, part ghost writer, and part consultant. You'll take structured datasets, rankings, and research outputs and transform them into polished reports that resemble work produced by leading consulting firms or research organizations. Projects may include: Social Media Insight Reports Digital Marketing Intelligence Reports Restaurant Rankings Competitive Benchmarking Studies "Winners & Losers" Reports Brand Case Studies Local Market Reports Industry Trend Reports Investor Intelligence Briefs Executive Presentations The ideal candidate understands how to combine data, storytelling, and business strategy into research that generates real value for restaurant operators and hospitality investors. Responsibilities: Research & Insight Development -Analyze restaurant and hospitality datasets to identify meaningful trends, opportunities, and performance drivers. -Benchmark brands across Crave IQ dimensions including search, social, reviews, maps, websites, and press. -Identify the factors contributing to brand momentum or decline. -Develop clear hypotheses supported by quantitative evidence. Report Writing & Storytelling -Turn structured analyses into research reports that are insightful, concise, and visually compelling. -Examples include: -Executive summaries -Industry insight reports -Social media trend reports -Digital marketing analyses -Competitive rankings -Restaurant case studies -Brand deep dives -Market outlook reports Create consulting-quality visuals including: -Rankings -Scorecards -Heat maps -Benchmark comparisons -Trend charts -Opportunity matrices The goal is to make complex restaurant data intuitive and actionable. Required Qualifications -3+ years of experience in research, consulting, strategy, market intelligence, market research, or business analysis. -Strong familiarity with the U.S. restaurant and hospitality industry, including consumer trends, and digital marketing best practices. -Outstanding business writing and storytelling ability. -Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. -Ability to synthesize large datasets into clear, executive-ready insights. -Experience producing professional PowerPoint presentations and executive reports. -Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. -Experience with research and analytics tools such as SEMrush, Google Trends, Think-Cell, or similar platforms is a plus. -Familiarity with ChatGPT and Claude is required, as they are an integral part of our research and content development workflow. -Exceptional attention to detail. Preferred Experience Experience researching one or more of the following: Restaurants Hospitality Food & Beverage Consumer Brands Retail Digital Marketing Social Media Analytics Bonus if you've worked with restaurant brands, agencies, hospitality groups, or investment firms.
