Summary

Reverse Engineering + DFM for a PU Foam (PPU) Part — STL to Siemens NX, with Internal Reinforcement Inserts We are looking for an experienced mold/manufacturing design engineer to reverse-engineer and prepare a production-ready CAD model of a part manufactured from rigid polyurethane foam (PPU). Scope of work: Reverse-engineer the provided STL mesh into a fully parametric, history-based CAD model in Siemens NX (version 2406) — the build/feature tree must be preserved and editable The external geometry must match the original STL exactly; no changes to the outer surface without approval Design internal reinforcement inserts (lightweight — cast aluminum or sheet steel) for rigidity and good adhesion with the PU foam, including provisions for threaded inserts/bushings Perform a Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review for PU foam casting (draft angles, wall thickness, undercuts, parting line, insert placement) If any internal design change is needed, provide a clear DFM report explaining what was changed, why the original would not work, and what the change improves Deliverables: Parametric CAD model in Siemens NX 2406 (with full feature history) + STEP Internal insert design integrated into the model DFM / manufacturability report Production drawings Requirements: Proven experience in mold design and DFM Proficiency in Siemens NX (must be able to deliver native NX 2406 files with build history) Experience with polyurethane foam (PU/PPU) molding is a strong plus Ability to deliver a structured report with annotated screenshots Please include in your proposal: Your relevant experience (especially with PU foam parts and Siemens NX) Examples of similar DFM / reverse-engineering work Your proposed pricing approach and estimated turnaround time A detailed technical specification will be shared after a simple NDA is signed.
