Summary

About the Role We design and prefabricate custom residential homes and are looking for an experienced Revit designer/drafter to produce complete, construction-ready home models. You'll take residential designs and build out full Revit models including structural framing and MEP systems, ensuring everything complies with US building codes (IRC, NEC, and related standards). We're starting with traditional dimensional-lumber (wood-framed) builds, with more build types to follow for the right long-term collaborator. This is detail-critical work. Our models feed downstream fabrication processes, so clean, well-organized, consistently-structured models matter as much as visual completeness. Scope of Work You will produce Revit models that include, per project: Architectural model — walls, floors, roofs, openings, and assemblies reflecting the provided design. Structural components — complete wood framing: studs, plates, headers, sills, king/jack studs, cripples, blocking, floor/roof framing, and connections, consistent with IRC prescriptive requirements. MEP systems — electrical (NEC-compliant), plumbing, and mechanical layouts appropriate to a residential build. Code compliance — models must reflect correct framing practices, member sizing, spacing, openings, and service penetrations per IRC, NEC, and applicable US standards. Clean model hygiene — consistent naming, families, worksets/levels, and assembly organization; models suitable for clean export (including IFC) and downstream data extraction. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience modeling residential buildings in Revit to construction-document level. Strong, practical knowledge of US residential building practices and wood-frame construction. Working familiarity with IRC (framing, openings, spans) and NEC (electrical), and the ability to model to those standards without hand-holding. Experience modeling structural framing and MEP systems — not just architectural shells. Disciplined, organized modeling habits (families, naming conventions, clean geometry). Reliable communication and the ability to consistently meet deadlines. This is essential — milestones and delivery dates are firm. Portfolio or sample files demonstrating comparable residential work. Nice to Have Experience producing or validating IFC exports from Revit. Familiarity with prefabrication / panelized construction workflows. Experience with structural framing plugins (e.g., StrucSoft MWF, SEMA) — helpful context, though not required for this role. Ability to work to a documented modeling standard / template we provide. How We Work / Expectations File formats: Native Revit (.rvt) plus clean IFC export where requested. Standards: We may provide a modeling standard/template; consistency across projects is expected. Communication: [e.g., async updates + a weekly check-in — adjust to your preference]. Deadlines: Milestones are set per project and are firm. Please only apply if you can reliably hit committed dates. To Apply Please include: Relevant samples — 1–2 residential Revit projects you modeled showing structural framing and/or MEP (images or shareable files). A short note on your experience with IRC/NEC-compliant residential modeling. Your answers to the screening questions below. Screening Questions Describe a recent wood-framed residential project you modeled in Revit. What structural and MEP scope did you handle, and how did you ensure code compliance? How do you keep models clean and consistently organized (naming, families, levels) across multiple projects? Have you exported IFC from Revit? If so, how do you verify the export is clean and complete? Walk us through how you'd frame a typical exterior wall with a window opening per IRC — what members would you include and why? Tell us about a time you were under a tight deadline on a modeling project. How did you manage it? Generic or copy-paste proposals will not be considered — please respond to the specifics above.Project contentPrefab Home Design SoftwareCreated by youAdd PDFs, documents, or other text to reference in this project.
