SEM Analyst
Worldwide
# Senior SEM Analyst StatBid manages paid search and the wider marketing engine for Shopify and ecommerce merchants. We're a fully remote, globally distributed team, we run open-book, and we're working toward B Corp certification. We manage accounts the way operators do: tied to profit, structured on purpose, and reviewed on a steady cadence. We're hiring a Senior SEM Analyst to own the strategy and structure behind a portfolio of paid search accounts. This is a senior seat. You set the account's direction, decide how it's built, and work out why performance is doing what it's doing, instead of waiting for a roadmap to be handed to you. ## What you'll own **Strategic direction.** Build the roadmap for each account and tie it to the client's business and marketing goals. Define the core goals for each campaign and how you'll get there. **Account structure.** Design the account from the ground up: campaign segmentation, ad group structure, targeting, all grounded in a real read of the market, the audience, and the business. You'll manage account settings across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and the Merchant Centers. **Analysis and diagnosis.** Dig into performance data in Google Ads, Google Analytics, and our reporting tools, and get to the root cause. When an account isn't hitting its goals, the job is to find out why (it's bidding on the wrong things, pointed in the wrong direction, structured poorly) rather than reporting that the numbers are up or down. **Hypothesis-driven testing.** Form a clear hypothesis, run it, drive it to a result, and judge whether it worked. This is about testing ideas and reaching conclusions, not just running A/B tests for their own sake. **Audience and keyword strategy.** Research keywords and audiences, decide which themes and segments are worth going after, then keep assessing what's working and what isn't, and why. Treat the initial research as the starting point and keep going from there. **Landing page recommendations.** Working with our SEM Specialists and SEO team, look at how traffic behaves on the page using session recordings and best-practice benchmarks like Baymard, and recommend new pages or changes for the client. You'll recommend; you won't be building the pages. **New products and tools.** Work with SEM Specialists to test what Google and Microsoft release and figure out where it actually belongs. **Reporting.** Build reports and dashboards that carry insight and recommendations, not just metrics. Review your accounts on a steady cadence, usually weekly, to keep actual performance in line with what you expected. **Communication.** Keep clients and stakeholders in the loop. Update tickets and channels so people know what changed and what's coming, flag issues quickly, and be able to walk a client through their account: what's happening, what's working, what isn't, and what you're doing about it. You don't need to polish the chart, you need to make it clear. **Collaboration.** Work closely with SEM Specialists, SEO, web designers, and the rest of the team so plans get executed and the data informs the bigger picture. ## What you'll need - Senior-level agency experience managing a portfolio of accounts across different industries - Specific ecommerce experience - Hands-on across Search, Performance Max, Shopping, Display, and Demand Gen - Feed optimization experience, and a real understanding of how the product feed drives paid search - A track record across account sizes, from small accounts up to large, complex ones Nice to have: operator experience, or at least the ability to put yourself in an operator's shoes and understand how the business runs. ## How the role is scoped You'll make the calls inside the accounts you manage: structure, ad copy, assets, audiences, feed work, bidding, and budget pacing within the agreed efficiency thresholds. You'll also help improve how we do the work, and call the exception when an account genuinely doesn't fit the standard playbook. What you won't set on your own: the client's efficiency target, how much they spend, and their brand direction. You manage to those goals and recommend changes when you see them. The client makes the final call. ## Benefits We extend real benefits to every team member regardless of location or employment type: accruing PTO that pays out, mental health days, paid sick and volunteer time, paid holidays including a full winter break, flexible scheduling, medical/dental/vision, life and disability coverage, and a 401(k) with up to a 4% match for eligible employees.
