SEO Content Proofreader

We are a growing SEO & AI Search Optimization agency looking for an SEO Content Proofreader to support our content production process across multiple client projects. This is not a general proofreading role. We are looking for someone with experience reviewing SEO-focused content who understands how content briefs, keyword targeting, search intent, and SEO best practices work together. The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as the final quality control step before content is published, ensuring content meets quality standards, follows SEO requirements, and aligns with client expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES 🔹 Content Quality Review • Review content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and readability • Ensure content is well-structured, easy to follow, and professionally written • Identify inconsistencies, unclear messaging, or areas that require improvement • Verify that content meets established quality standards before publication • Verify factual accuracy and flag questionable claims, statistics, or AI-generated inaccuracies when identified. • Ensure content is trustworthy, accurate, and supported by appropriate sources where required. 🔹 SEO Compliance Review • Review content briefs and ensure content accurately follows the provided requirements • Review content for expertise, authority, trustworthiness, and overall content credibility (E-E-A-T principles) • Verify that target keywords are implemented correctly and naturally • Ensure content aligns with search intent and addresses the topic effectively • Check content structure, headings, and formatting for SEO best practices • Review internal linking recommendations and other on-page SEO elements where applicable • Confirm content follows current SEO guidelines and content standards • Review title tags, meta descriptions, and other content metadata when applicable. 🔹 Process & Quality Control • Perform final reviews before content is approved for publishing • Provide clear feedback and revision requests when necessary • Follow established SOPs, workflows, and content review checklists • Track completed reviews and maintain organized documentation • Collaborate with content writers and internal team members to improve content quality and consistency • Ensure all required sections, headings, topics, and deliverables specified in the content brief are fully addressed before approval. REQUIREMENTS • Proven experience proofreading, editing, or reviewing SEO-focused content • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals, keyword targeting, and search intent • Excellent English grammar, spelling, and editing skills • Ability to evaluate both content quality and SEO compliance • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies • Experience working with content briefs and SEO guidelines • Ability to provide constructive feedback and revision recommendations • Comfortable following processes and maintaining quality standards across multiple projects BONUS (NOT REQUIRED) • Experience working in an SEO agency environment • Experience creating or reviewing SEO content briefs • Familiarity with tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Surfer SEO, Grammarly, or similar platforms • Experience reviewing blog content, service pages, or website content for SEO compliance • Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms COMPENSATION • Hourly • Potential for ongoing work and increased hours based on performance and project needs TO APPLY Please include: • Examples of SEO content you have proofread, edited, or reviewed • A brief overview of your experience with SEO and content quality assurance • How you typically evaluate whether content satisfies search intent • Any SEO or content tools you regularly use • Your availability and estimated weekly capacity FINAL NOTE We are looking for someone who can go beyond grammar and spelling checks.
