Summary

We're looking for an enthusiastic, high-scoring SHSAT instructor to lead live online classes and manage a growing community of student learners preparing for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test. About the Role You'll teach 2 live classes per week (SHSAT strategy, content review, and practice) and serve as the go-to mentor for our online learning community — answering questions, keeping students motivated, and helping them track progress toward their goals. What You'll Do Lead 2x/week live virtual class sessions covering SHSAT Math and/or English Language Arts (ELA) strategy and content Actively manage and engage our online student community (answering questions, posting practice content, encouraging consistency) Break down complex concepts into clear, digestible strategies for students at different skill levels Track student progress and adjust teaching approach based on where students are struggling Bring energy and enthusiasm that makes students actually want to show up and put in the work Who We're Looking For Scored at a top percentile on the SHSAT, or has a strong track record helping students gain admission to Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, or other specialized high schools Genuinely loves teaching and gets energized by watching students hit their goals Strong communicator who can explain the "why" behind test strategies, not just the "what" Comfortable running live online classes and engaging a community outside of class time Reliable and consistent — this is an ongoing, recurring commitment, not a one-off gig Prior tutoring or teaching experience with middle schoolers is a plus, but passion and results matter most Details Commitment: 2 live classes per week + ongoing community engagement Format: Fully remote/online Compensation: [insert rate/range] If you love the SHSAT, love teaching, and want to help students earn a seat at a specialized high school, we'd love to hear from you. Please include your relevant scoring background or teaching results and a short note on why you love teaching when you apply.
