Sr. SQL Server DBA for Emergency Coverage 6pm - 1am ET (On-going Remote Position)

We are seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to provide after-hours emergency support coverage from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM ET (Eastern Time zone). In addition to responding to production alerts (resource issues, performance degradation, high CPU utilization, blocking, errors, and other critical incidents), this role will also involve routine SQL Server administration, troubleshooting, and proactive monitoring activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale, mission-critical SQL Server environments both on-premises and in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Requirements: • Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server clustering, Always On Availability Groups, readable replicas, and high-availability/disaster recovery solutions. • Experience administering SQL Server environments in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, including instance sizing and resource scaling. • Advanced SQL Server performance tuning and troubleshooting skills. • Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools such as SolarWinds DPA and similar platforms. • Experience supporting SQL Server versions ranging from legacy releases through SQL Server 2022 and newer. • Ability to diagnose and resolve production issues independently in a timely manner. This is a fully remote, long-term contract opportunity with ongoing support responsibilities.
