SQL Server DBA

We're looking for a Senior Database Administrator (SQL, Oracle/Postrgres) in Europe to support one of our applications that is bound by geo restrictions- EU only. Contract duration: 4 - 6 months. Location: Anywhere in EU Start: Available Immediately Certified candidates only. Job Description Troubleshoot complex database issues in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain database disaster recovery procedures to ensure continuous availability and speedy recovery. Ensure databases are deployed according to GBS standards and business requirements. Identify and resolve database issues related to performance and capacity. Ensure database management and maintenance tasks are performed effectively. Ensure ticket SLA expectations are met. Stay updated with new database technologies, including AI-driven and automation capabilities, and analyze such technologies to bring them into the scope of the existing infrastructure. Be able to switch between OLTP and OLAP environments. Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or have 6–8+ years of DBA experience, with expert-level experience in at least one database technology platform; multi-platform experience is preferred, including MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, and MariaDB. SQL Server mainly and other which can be Oracle or Postgres. Have a deep understanding of integrated security and be able to participate in troubleshooting activities. Be able to discuss database-related topics, including data-driven and AI-enabled solutions, with both technical and business audiences. Troubleshoot, investigate, and execute resolutions to database issues. Monitor and report on database storage utilization. Have experience writing T-SQL and the ability to understand what others have developed. Monitor, tune, and manage scheduled tasks, backup jobs, recovery processes, alerts, and database storage needs in line with firm change control procedures. Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshoot, and correct problems at the database and application performance levels. Work well in a team environment within the database administration team, as well as with other Technical Service Group teams and other departments. Provide regular reports on the performance and stability of the database environment, proactively identifying upcoming needs to ensure continued reliable service and leveraging data analysis where applicable. Document, develop, test, and implement updates to database systems, including automation opportunities. Enjoy constantly learning new technologies, including AI and data platform innovations, and contribute to the knowledge of others. Work outside regular business hours as required for project or operational work. Experience Experienced database professional with at least 6–8+ years of experience in database administration. Experience with all aspects of setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and security. Experience with the upgrade or migration of database platforms from on-premises to cloud solutions is a plus. Exposure to automation, scripting, or AI-assisted operational processes is considered a plus. Self-motivated, with the proven ability to work independently. Take ownership of and proactively seek to improve existing systems, including identifying opportunities for automation and AI adoption. Technical Skillset Solid database administration skills. Technical certifications are mandatory- Azure/AWS Building cloud model servers end to end is a plus. Experience with on-premises to cloud database migrations. Knowledge of data security, backup, and recovery tools. Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, data pipelines, or AI-enabled database features (for example, intelligent tuning and anomaly detection) is a plus. Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexible, team-player, get-it-done personality. Ability to organize and plan work independently. Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment. Experience managing database environments in cloud solutions.
