AI-Savvy Book Writer / Developmental Editor Needed for Fast-Moving Mission-Driven Project
Worldwide
I’m looking for a skilled, affordable book writer or developmental editor who knows how to work effectively with AI while still bringing the judgment, creativity, structure, and human touch needed to produce a meaningful and compelling book. This is not a traditional “write the entire book from scratch” assignment. I already have a substantial amount of material, including ideas, conversations, notes, rough drafts, organizational concepts, and AI-generated content. The goal is to take everything we have, identify the strongest ideas, organize it into a clear structure, and turn it into a book we can publish as soon as realistically possible. The subject is a large, mission-driven idea involving citizen participation, community organization, decentralized circles, unincorporated associations, entrepreneurship, and new ways ordinary people may be able to create meaningful change together. The project is connected to a broader initiative called UNPRECEDENTED. The book will help introduce the vision, explain the ideas in a relatable way, attract early supporters, and test whether there is a genuine community interested in helping build it. ### What I Need I need someone who can: * Review and organize a large amount of existing material. * Use AI intelligently to accelerate outlining, drafting, research organization, editing, and revision. * Recognize that AI is a tool, not a replacement for good human writing and judgment. * Help identify the central message and remove unnecessary repetition or distractions. * Turn complicated ideas into language that everyday people can understand. * Help develop the book’s voice, structure, chapters, flow, and overall emotional impact. * Interview me by phone or video and pull important ideas, stories, and explanations out of our conversations. * Keep the project moving forward consistently and quickly. * Be comfortable challenging ideas, asking strong questions, and telling me when something needs clarification. * Help prepare the manuscript for eventual publication, fundraising, audience testing, and public release. ### How We Would Work Together I own and operate a painting company, so I cannot step away from my business for long periods of time. I can generally commit about one focused hour per day to the book. I expect we would speak approximately two or three times per week, possibly more when needed. Phone calls may be the fastest and most natural way for us to work, although we can also use Zoom, shared documents, voice notes, AI tools, and whatever system helps us move efficiently. I want this to be an active working relationship, not a situation where the project disappears for several weeks and then comes back as a finished document that does not sound like me. We will build it together, section by section, and maintain regular communication until the manuscript is completed. ### Budget My current budget is limited to approximately a few hundred dollars per week. Some weeks may be slightly higher and some may need to be lower. Because of that, I need someone who is: * Efficient with their time. * Comfortable working within a practical weekly budget. * Able to use AI and good systems to reduce unnecessary labor. * Interested in a consistent collaboration rather than charging premium agency-level rates. * Honest about what can realistically be accomplished within the available hours. I am open to hourly work, weekly milestones, or a structured ongoing arrangement. Please explain what approach you believe would work best. ### The Bigger Purpose I am not primarily pursuing this book for personal profit. I feel a responsibility to put these ideas into the world and find out whether they resonate with people. The book may become the starting point for: * Building an audience and founding community. * Testing the level of public interest and commitment. * Launching crowdfunding or GoFundMe-style campaigns. * Identifying volunteers, organizers, collaborators, and financial supporters. * Developing an international association that people can participate in from anywhere. * Turning years of discussion and ideas into something real, visible, and actionable. Right now, the most important thing is to begin. There is always a risk that a project like this remains trapped in conversations, notes, and unfinished plans. I want to move beyond that. We need to organize it, publish it, put it in front of people, and see what response comes back. That response may be small, or it may surprise us. Either way, we will finally have something tangible that people can read, discuss, support, criticize, improve, and potentially help build. ### Ideal Candidate You may be a strong fit if you: * Have experience writing, ghostwriting, editing, or structuring nonfiction books. * Understand developmental editing and big-picture storytelling. * Are experienced with ChatGPT or other AI writing tools. * Can preserve an author’s natural voice. * Are comfortable working with unconventional, ambitious, or movement-oriented ideas. * Communicate reliably and respond promptly. * Are organized, patient, curious, and capable of working without excessive supervision. * Enjoy helping a founder turn a large vision into something concrete. * Can balance inspiration with realism and discipline. * Are willing to work within a limited but consistent budget. Experience with publishing, crowdfunding, grassroots movements, nonprofit organizations, associations, political philosophy, community building, or entrepreneurial projects would be helpful but is not required. ### To Apply Please include: 1. A brief description of your experience with nonfiction books, ghostwriting, developmental editing, or manuscript organization. 2. How you currently use AI in your writing or editing process. 3. An example of a project where you took scattered ideas or source material and turned them into an organized finished product. 4. Your hourly rate or proposed weekly arrangement. 5. How many hours you could realistically provide each week within a budget of a few hundred dollars. 6. Your availability for two or three phone or video conversations per week. 7. Your honest opinion on the fastest practical way to turn a large amount of existing material into a strong first manuscript. 8. The words “Let’s Get It Moving” at the beginning of your response so I know you read the entire post. Please do not send a generic proposal. I am looking for someone who understands that this is both a writing project and the beginning of something much larger. The immediate goal is simple: take the ideas out of the background, turn them into a real book, put the book in front of people, and see what becomes possible.
