# Senior API Integration & Automation Engineer for Housecall Pro Business Intelligence System ## About Us We are a growing plumbing company based in Hawaii that is investing heavily in systems, automation, and business intelligence. Our objective is not simply to automate repetitive tasks. We are building the foundation of a data-driven operating system that will allow us to better understand our business, accurately measure profitability, improve decision-making, and scale efficiently. This project is the first phase of a long-term initiative. We are looking for someone who can become a trusted technical partner as we continue expanding the platform. ## Project Overview Our company currently operates on Housecall Pro for scheduling, dispatching, estimating, invoicing, customer management, and technician operations. We also maintain detailed financial and operational calculations in Microsoft Excel. The goal of this project is to design and build a centralized business intelligence and job-costing system that automatically collects operational data from Housecall Pro, combines it with our internal costing models, and produces accurate job costing and profitability information. Although we have initially considered using Housecall Pro, Make.com, Airtable, and Excel, we are intentionally looking for an experienced engineer who can evaluate the overall architecture and recommend improvements where appropriate. We are not hiring someone to simply build what we specify. We are looking for someone who can help us determine the best technical solution. ## Existing Resources We already have: Housecall Pro A detailed Excel workbook containing our labor burden calculations, overhead allocation, hourly cost formulas, and profitability calculations An internal systems administrator who understands Housecall Pro and can explain our workflows and business processes Clearly defined operational procedures This means you will not be starting from scratch. ## Objectives Design a scalable architecture for our business intelligence platform Automatically synchronize operational data from Housecall Pro Maintain historical snapshots for job costing Calculate actual labor cost using our existing formulas Allocate company overhead accurately Calculate gross profit and net profit Provide meaningful reporting and dashboards Design the platform so future automation and reporting can be added without rebuilding the system ## We Are Looking For Someone Who Can Study our business workflow Understand our existing Excel calculations Recommend the best technical architecture Design a proper relational database Integrate Housecall Pro using APIs Build reliable automation workflows Prevent duplicate or corrupted data Document the system Design with scalability in mind Think like a systems architect rather than simply an API developer ## Technical Experience Ideal candidates will have experience with several of the following: Housecall Pro API REST APIs API integrations Webhooks Business process automation Database design SQL PostgreSQL MySQL Make.com n8n Airtable JavaScript Python Microsoft Excel Google Sheets Business intelligence Reporting systems Data modeling If your preferred technology stack differs from ours, we encourage you to explain why. ## Important We are completely open to alternative technical solutions. If you believe another architecture would produce a better long-term result, we want to hear your recommendation. For example, you may recommend: Housecall Pro + PostgreSQL Housecall Pro + Make.com + PostgreSQL Housecall Pro + n8n Housecall Pro + Azure Housecall Pro + AWS or another architecture that you believe is more appropriate. Your reasoning is more important than using any particular software. ## Discovery Phase The project will begin with a paid discovery phase. During this phase we expect you to: Review our business Review our Excel workbook Review our Housecall Pro workflow Recommend the best architecture Estimate implementation effort Produce a development roadmap Only after both parties agree on the proposed architecture will we begin implementation. ## Communication Good communication is extremely important. We expect regular updates. We appreciate developers who explain technical decisions in plain English. You will have direct access to our internal systems administrator for technical questions regarding Housecall Pro. ## Long-Term Opportunity This is not intended to be a one-time project.
