Senior AI Content Manager & Digital Growth Lead We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Content Manager to lead, develop and manage a high-performing content team for an established UK B2B business. This is a strategic leadership role focused on increasing organic traffic, AI visibility, brand authority and customer acquisition through exceptional content, technical best practice and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing content teams, developing scalable content strategies and delivering measurable business growth. They must also possess a deep understanding of how AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and other large language models discover, interpret and reference online content. This is not a traditional SEO role. We are looking for someone who understands the future of search and can ensure content performs exceptionally well across both search engines and AI-driven discovery platforms. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage an internal team of content writers, editors, developers and social media specialists. Review, prioritise and delegate work effectively across multiple departments. Develop and execute a long-term content strategy focused on increasing qualified organic traffic, AI visibility and conversions. Review existing website content and identify opportunities to improve, consolidate or expand pages that are already close to ranking rather than simply creating new content. Audit and continually improve blog content, service pages, landing pages and knowledge resources. Ensure every piece of content follows best practice for structure, readability, semantic relevance and user intent. Implement and continually improve structured data (Schema.org), internal linking strategies, topical authority and content architecture. Work closely with developers to improve page performance, Core Web Vitals, crawlability, indexation and technical SEO. Review page layouts, navigation, UX and conversion opportunities to maximise engagement. Monitor AI search trends and adapt content strategies to maximise visibility across AI-generated answers. Develop content frameworks that increase the likelihood of citation within AI platforms. Build and maintain content governance, quality standards and editorial processes. Produce detailed content briefs using keyword research, entity optimisation and topical clustering. Collaborate with marketing, development and leadership teams to ensure business objectives are reflected within content strategy. Develop and oversee a social media content strategy that supports authority, engagement and brand awareness. Monitor competitor activity, industry trends and emerging best practices, implementing improvements proactively. Measure performance using analytics, Search Console and AI visibility tools, reporting regularly on KPIs and opportunities. Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience managing content teams within a medium or large organisation. Extensive experience in SEO, content strategy and organic growth. Strong understanding of AI search optimisation (AEO), Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and AI visibility. Experience optimising websites for AI platforms including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Excellent knowledge of semantic search, entities, topical authority and search intent. Experience implementing and auditing structured data (Schema.org). Strong understanding of internal linking strategies and content architecture. Experience reviewing website performance, Core Web Vitals and page speed optimisation. Ability to interpret analytics and make data-driven decisions. Excellent project management and organisational skills. Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate, mentor and manage teams. Comfortable working alongside developers, designers, marketers and senior management. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable content plans. Ability to identify opportunities independently while also taking direction from senior management and executing efficiently. Desirable Experience Experience with enterprise CMS platforms. Experience using AI tools to improve content workflows while maintaining editorial quality. Familiarity with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, SurferSEO or equivalent platforms. Experience with digital PR and authority link acquisition. Knowledge of E-E-A-T principles and content quality frameworks. Understanding of international SEO and multilingual content strategies. Experience managing freelance writers and external agencies. What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will be measured by their ability to: Increase qualified organic traffic. Improve AI visibility and citation frequency across leading AI platforms. Increase keyword rankings and topical authority. Improve engagement and conversion rates across existing content. Build scalable content systems and efficient workflows. Deliver measurable improvements in website performance and technical quality. Successfully lead and develop a high-performing content team. Keep the business at the forefront of emerging SEO, AI and content marketing best practices.
