Senior Curriculum Writer & Instructional Designer (Contract) Organization: National CASA/GAL Association for Children Project Overview The National CASA/GAL Association for Children is seeking an experienced Senior Curriculum Writer & Instructional Designer to help transform our learning and development program from primarily vendor-supported training to an internally developed learning ecosystem. This is a contract position for an experienced instructional design professional who can independently design, develop, and deliver engaging learning experiences for both National CASA/GAL staff and our nationwide network of local CASA/GAL programs. The ideal candidate has experience developing curriculum for adult learners, creating engaging eLearning, and collaborating with subject matter experts to translate complex content into practical, learner-centered training. Experience working in nonprofit organizations, child welfare, human services, or similarly mission-driven environments is highly desirable. Scope of Work The selected contractor will be responsible for the full instructional design lifecycle, including: • Designing curriculum frameworks, learning paths, and course outlines for adult learners. • Developing instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced eLearning content. • Creating interactive courses using Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360. • Building engaging learning activities using branching scenarios, variables, assessments, simulations, and knowledge checks. • Collaborating with subject matter experts to translate complex regulatory, policy, and child welfare content into engaging educational materials. • Revising existing training materials and developing new content as organizational needs evolve. • Ensuring learning materials comply with accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG) and are compatible with SCORM and/or xAPI learning management systems. • Participating in project planning meetings and incorporating stakeholder feedback throughout development. Required Qualifications • Applicants should demonstrate experience in most or all of the following areas: • Significant experience designing curriculum and instructional materials for adult learners. • Advanced proficiency using Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360. • Strong portfolio demonstrating interactive eLearning development. • Experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and managing multiple deliverables. • Working knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, accessibility standards, and LMS implementation. • Familiarity with JavaScript and/or HTML to enhance Articulate functionality is preferred. • Excellent written communication and editing skills. Preferred Qualifications • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: • Child welfare • Foster care • Juvenile justice • Social services • Human services • Nonprofit organizations • Higher education or professional education curriculum development • Professional certifications such as ATD, Quality Matters, or similar instructional design credentials are a plus but are not required.
