Senior Data / Backend-Platform Engineer / CTO

We are building a multi-region metabolic intelligence platform that ingests continuous physiological and CGM-derived data from wearables and a mobile app, and processes it through a strictly deterministic engine to surface clinically meaningful insights. We're entering a major backend build phase and need a senior engineer to own the data backbone . the ingestion, storage, and processing pipeline that everything downstream depends on. This is a backend, data-intensive role operating in a regulated digital-health environment, where the same inputs must always produce identical, auditable outputs and where no machine learning is permitted in the core. It is not a mobile or analytics/BI position. What we need in a candidate is, first, deep AWS data-platform expertise: proven experience building event-driven, serverless data pipelines using services such as S3, SQS, Kinesis, and Lambda, with strong PostgreSQL/Aurora and time-series data modelling, and a track record of getting the hard reliability details right — ordering, deduplication, connection management at scale, and failure handling. Second, and non-negotiable, is regulated digital-health experience: you must have previously delivered backend or data infrastructure for a regulated health product (SaMD, DiGA, FDA-cleared, or MDR-equivalent), and you must understand how to work to ISO 13485 / IEC 62304-ready standards and handle sensitive health data under GDPR (UAE PDPL a plus). Multi-region AWS delivery experience including at least one EU and one Middle East region is strongly preferred, given our data-residency obligations. The right person is a senior engineer who thinks in pipelines and data contracts, is disciplined about determinism and auditability rather than experiment-driven, and is comfortable owning critical infrastructure end-to-end. You don't need crazy mobile development skills, but you should reason well about how unreliable clients behave so the backend stays correct regardless.
