Senior UI/UX Designer — AI-Native Fintech SaaS (Figma)

About the role cruisr is an AI-native financial operations platform for Canadian SMBs — effectively a full finance department (bookkeeping, controller, and CFO work) delivered as software. We have a working prototype and live design partners. I’m a technical solo founder who ships fast; what I need is a UI/UX designer who makes the product genuinely great to look at and to use. You own the visual and interaction design in Figma. We handle implementation (Next.js + Tailwind + shadcn/ui), so you don’t need to write any code — but your designs should map cleanly to that component grain so we can ship them quickly. Work fast with AI — that’s the point I expect you to use modern AI design tools (Figma Make / Figma AI, Galileo, UX Pilot, v0, Magic Patterns — whatever you’re fastest in) to reach strong drafts quickly. I’m paying for your judgment, taste, and ability to make complex software clear — not for hours spent pushing pixels by hand. Speed through AI is a plus. The catch: the quality bar is high and the output has to be genuinely yours — polished, intentional, consistent. Raw, unedited AI output won’t cut it. Why this is an interesting problem This isn’t marketing pages or a consumer app. It’s a dense, operational product: a single Inbox where people review and approve AI-prepared financial work, plus permission models, multi-entity views, and data-heavy tables and states. The challenge is clarity, trust, and information hierarchy under real complexity. If you love making complicated software feel calm and obvious, this is your kind of work. What you’ll do • Design key screens and flows in Figma — hi-fi, not just wireframes • Build and extend a clean design system aligned to shadcn/ui + Tailwind conventions • Design the real states: empty, loading, error, dense data, edge cases — not just the happy path • Account for bilingual FR/EN layouts (text expansion) where relevant • Iterate quickly with me — I move fast and give direct, specific feedback What I’m looking for • A portfolio of dense B2B / SaaS / operational software: dashboards, workflow apps, fintech, data tables. This is software UI/UX — not physical/industrial product design, packaging, or print. • Strong design-system discipline and component thinking • Fluent with AI design tools and able to keep the output high-quality, not generic • Familiarity with shadcn/ui + Tailwind, or clear ability to design within a defined component library — big plus • Fintech / accounting / B2B domain experience — bonus, not required • Self-directed; comfortable working closely with a fast-moving solo founder Deliverables & format • Organized, component-based Figma files with a usable design system • Clean enough that a developer (me, with AI tooling) can implement without re-deriving your intent To apply • Share 3-5 portfolio pieces that are dense B2B / SaaS software (not your prettiest landing page) • One sentence on a complex interface you simplified, and how • Which AI design tools you’d use to move fast — and how you keep the output sharp, not generic • Skip the generic cover letter — I read for signal, not length
