We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer or Database Administrator with strong expertise in MariaDB, InnoDB storage engine, and cPanel environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience handling database corruption, recovery procedures, and large-scale backup restoration in production environments. Project Overview Our server has experienced critical database instability. The cPanel support team has reviewed system logs, including MySQL error logs and dmesg, and identified that MariaDB is encountering segmentation faults. Based on their assessment, a potential reinstallation of the database server may be required. Further investigation shows that the InnoDB storage engine is failing to initialize properly. A forced recovery mode had previously been enabled to keep the service operational, but the issue persists. At this stage, restoring or repairing the InnoDB engine is required. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve MariaDB / InnoDB corruption issues Analyze MySQL error logs and system-level logs (dmesg) Recover or restore InnoDB storage engine functionality Perform database backup extraction and restoration when needed Safely handle MySQL/MariaDB reinstallation if required Ensure minimal data loss and downtime during recovery operations Work with cPanel-managed environments and tools Important Notes This is a high-risk database recovery task requiring advanced expertise Incorrect handling may result in data loss or service downtime Priority should be given to extracting a full MySQL dump while InnoDB is still accessible If repair is not feasible, a clean reinstallation of MariaDB may be required followed by database restoration from backups Useful References InnoDB corruption repair guide: https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/1500006010582-InnoDB-Corruption-Repair-Guide MySQL InnoDB troubleshooting: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/9.7/en/innodb-troubleshooting.html MySQL/MariaDB reinitialization in cPanel: https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/360052389273-How-do-I-reinitialize-MySQL-or-MariaDB-without-reinstalling-the-RPMs MySQL backups with mysqldump: https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/360041291913-MySQL-backups-with-mysqldump Restore database from backup: https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/19596506574231-How-to-restore-a-database-from-a-daily-backup Import database via SSH: https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/360048320614-How-to-import-or-restore-a-database-via-SSH Preferred Skills Strong experience with MariaDB / MySQL internals Deep understanding of InnoDB architecture and recovery Experience with cPanel/WHM environments Backup and disaster recovery strategies
