Senior AI Engineer / AI Lead (Part-Time) to Head Our AI Team & Projects

We're an AI-driven product company building LLM/GenAI-powered products and APIs. We're looking for a senior AI engineer to lead our AI work, part-time and ongoing (~60 hours/month). This is a leadership + hands-on role, not a pure coding seat: you'll own the technical direction of our AI, guide a junior AI engineer and developers, talk directly with clients, and help us audit the AI we've already shipped. What you'll do --Head our AI projects and lead a small AI team (a junior AI engineer + developers), setting direction and reviewing their work so they build the right way --Be client-facing: join calls, turn client needs into clear technical plans, and communicate progress --Audit our existing AI implementations (features we've already built) and recommend improvements to quality, reliability, and cost --Define how we build, evaluate, and deploy AI/LLM systems, and raise the bar on the team's output You're a strong fit if you --Have proven senior experience shipping AI/ML and LLM/GenAI systems to production (not just tutorials or wrappers) --Have led projects and mentored junior engineers end to end --Are genuinely client-facing and communicate well in English --Are still hands-on: you can read code, debug, and prototype, not only delegate --Know modern GenAI tooling (LLM APIs, RAG, vector DBs, evaluation/monitoring, prompt & agent design) and a strong language (Python preferred) Nice to have --Experience auditing or improving existing AI systems MLOps / deployment experience (serving, monitoring, cost optimization) --Experience with APIs and content-generation products Engagement --Part-time, ongoing: ~60 hours/month --Budget: $1,000/month (roughly $16-17/hr) --Remote, with some overlap for client and team calls To apply, please include --A short note on a senior AI project you led and your exact role --A link to real AI code or a system you built --Your experience leading/mentoring a team Applications that answer all three get priority.
