We are a startup fintech platform spun out from a small investment firm. We are seeking candidates with deep experience in financial analysis and financial operations to pilot a new financial modeling software and provide critical feedback and validation. Please note that this engagement will be largely asynchronous, but will likely require deep critical thinking, abstract reasoning, and considering real business problems around finance. Backgrounds: Investment Banking / Private Equity Management Consulting Senior FP&A / CFO Economics Mathematics Quantitative Finance Equity Research To apply, choose one to two of the below prompts. Short or bullet pointed answers are acceptable - we are testing for thinking, not verboseness. You are also allowed to question/criticize the prompts assumptions. Prompt A — Structural Thinking A company's revenue is growing 20% YoY, but free cash flow is declining. Walk us through the possible structural explanations and how you would investigate each one. Prompt B — Propagation Logic A single input assumption changes in a financial model — say, gross margin compresses by 300bps. Describe, step by step, how you would trace the downstream effects across the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement. Prompt C — Feedback Loops A company raises prices by 10%. Describe the full chain of effects across the business — operationally, financially, and competitively — and identify where the loop closes or breaks down. Prompt D — Constraint Identification A CFO tells you the business is "doing well" but can't seem to scale. What financial and operational signals would you look for to identify the binding constraint, and how would you distinguish a capacity problem from a unit economics problem? Prompt E — Assumption Sensitivity You're building a forecast for a SaaS company. Which three input assumptions are most likely to make or break the model, and how do you decide how much uncertainty to assign to each? Prompt F — Reversal Reasoning Working backwards: a company missed its EBITDA target by 15%. Without access to management commentary, what are the most likely causes, and how would you rank them by probability? Prompt G — System Stress A portfolio company is growing revenue but its working capital position is deteriorating. Where do you look first, and what does the sequence of your investigation tell you about how you think about business health?
