Senior Full-Stack React Native Engineer — AI Visual Search Mobile App

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Mobile Engineer to help build the V1 of an AI-powered, camera-first mobile application. The product combines mobile camera/image capture, AI services, visual search results, product discovery, user accounts, saved items, alerts, and external commerce integrations into a clean iOS/Android experience. We are looking for one strong senior engineer who can own a significant portion of the MVP rather than a large development team. Core Responsibilities • Build the mobile application using React Native + TypeScript • Implement camera, photo upload, and image-processing workflows • Integrate AI and Computer Vision APIs/services • Integrate a visual-search pipeline developed with our Computer Vision specialist • Build and integrate backend APIs • Implement authentication and user profiles • Handle saved products, scan history, preferences, and alerts • Integrate product/catalog/search data • Implement external retailer/affiliate redirects • Work with PostgreSQL or an equivalent relational database • Implement image/file storage • Push notifications • Analytics and error monitoring • Secure API keys, user data, and application services • Prepare builds for iOS and Android • Collaborate with our Product/UI/UX Designer and Computer Vision Engineer Required Experience • Strong React Native • TypeScript / JavaScript • Production mobile applications for iOS and Android • REST APIs • Backend development with Node.js/TypeScript or comparable modern backend technology • PostgreSQL • Cloud services • Authentication • Image upload/storage • Third-party API integrations • Git/GitHub • App Store / Google Play deployment experience Highly Desirable • AI API integration • Computer Vision integration • Camera-intensive mobile applications • Visual search • Vector databases / embeddings • E-commerce or product-search applications • Firebase • Push notifications Important We are NOT looking for someone who simply generates screens with AI coding tools. We need a senior engineer capable of making architectural decisions, writing maintainable production-quality code, debugging complex integrations, and clearly explaining technical tradeoffs. The initial engagement will be milestone-based. We prefer to validate the collaboration with a defined first milestone before committing to the complete V1 build.
