Senior Google Ads Media Buyer (Restricted & Gray-Area Products)
Worldwide
We're a fast-growing digital marketing agency specializing in policy-sensitive eCommerce brands, and we're looking for a Senior Google Ads Media Buyer. This is a long-term position. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of accounts, think independently, solve difficult problems, and become a core member of our media buying team. Our agency thrives on solving problems that most Google Ads specialists avoid. If you're the type of person who enjoys tackling difficult policy issues, finding creative solutions, and continuously testing new approaches, you'll fit in well here. This Is NOT a Typical Google Ads Role If your experience is limited to standard eCommerce brands, SaaS, local businesses, or compliant consumer products, this probably isn't the role for you. We're looking for someone who has firsthand experience advertising products that regularly encounter: Merchant Center suspensions Product disapprovals Policy limitations Manual account reviews Inconsistent enforcement Constant optimization to maintain account health Success in these industries requires much more than simply following Google's documentation. The Type of Products We Advertise These are legal products that frequently receive heightened scrutiny from Google's advertising systems, including: Research compounds Peptides Biohacking products Wellness products Herbal supplements Other policy-sensitive consumer products What We DON'T Mean by "Restricted" We're not looking for someone whose experience is limited to categories such as: CBD Gambling Financial services Housing Employment Standard healthcare or telemedicine While these industries certainly have advertising policies, they generally have well-documented compliance requirements and established approval paths. Our clients operate in industries where Google's enforcement can be inconsistent, requiring continuous testing, adaptation, and creative problem-solving. Experience in these environments is what we're looking for. Problem Solving Is Critical One of the most important qualities we're looking for is the ability to solve difficult problems. These accounts often require creative thinking—not simply adjusting bids or budgets. Examples include: Developing effective bridge page strategies Improving landing pages to reduce policy risk Rewriting landing page copy Diagnosing Merchant Center issues Identifying why products or accounts are being flagged Developing new testing strategies when campaigns plateau Working alongside developers to implement technical solutions We don't expect you to know every answer immediately. We do expect you to take initiative, investigate issues, test ideas, collaborate with the team, and proactively find solutions instead of waiting for instructions. Responsibilities Manage approximately 10–15 Google Ads accounts Build, launch, and optimize campaigns Daily account monitoring and optimization Manage Performance Max, Shopping, Search, and Demand Gen campaigns Merchant Center management Product feed optimization Daily budget and bid management Performance reporting for internal teams and clients Identify scaling opportunities Diagnose policy issues and disapprovals Collaborate with developers, designers, CRO specialists, and account managers Participate in internal strategy discussions and problem-solving Requirements Extensive Google Ads experience Proven success advertising restricted or gray-area products Strong Merchant Center experience Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to take initiative Ability to think independently and own client accounts Comfortable managing multiple accounts simultaneously Strong communication skills Fluent English Bonus Experience We're especially interested in candidates with experience in: Setting up Google Ads conversion tracking from scratch Google Tag Manager GA4 Browser-side conversion tracking Server-side conversion tracking Enhanced Conversions WooCommerce Feed management platforms Technical troubleshooting and implementation To Apply Please answer the following questions in as much detail as possible: Which restricted or gray-area industries have you personally advertised? Approximately how much monthly Google Ads spend have you managed? Describe the most challenging Merchant Center or Google Ads policy issue you've encountered and how you resolved it. What experience do you have with Performance Max for restricted or policy-sensitive products? Describe a time where you had to think outside the box to solve a Google Ads or Merchant Center issue. What experience do you have setting up Google Ads conversion tracking, including browser-side and server-side implementations? Provide a high-level overview of the advanced strategies you've used to successfully advertise gray-area or policy-sensitive products on Google. This question is intentionally weighted heavily in our hiring process. We're not looking for generic advice such as "follow Google's policies," "optimize Quality Score," or other textbook responses. We want to understand how you think when managing difficult accounts. We're interested in learning about the strategic approaches you've developed through real-world experience. This may include topics such as: Landing page strategy Bridge page architecture Merchant Center optimization Product feed structure Campaign architecture Account longevity strategies Policy risk mitigation Scaling restricted products Testing methodologies Landing page copy optimization Any other advanced approaches you've found effective Please keep your response at a strategic level—we are not asking you to disclose proprietary client information or confidential techniques. The more detail you provide about your thought process, testing methodology, and problem-solving approach, the more likely you are to be invited for an interview. Candidates who have genuinely operated in these industries typically have no shortage of insights to share. Begin your proposal with the words "GRAY AREA" so we know you've read the posting. If you've successfully navigated Google's gray areas, enjoy solving difficult problems, and are looking for a long-term role with a growing agency, we'd love to hear from you.
