About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior MEP Estimator specializing in mission critical and data center construction. This is not an entry level estimating position. You will be responsible for developing complete electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and commissioning estimates for large scale mission critical facilities ranging from several million dollars to over $500 million in construction value. The ideal candidate understands the entire preconstruction process, can work with limited design information, and is capable of producing accurate, well organized estimates under aggressive deadlines. Responsibilities Prepare complete conceptual, schematic, design development, GMP, design-build, and hard bid estimates. Estimate complete MEP scopes including: Electrical Mechanical/HVAC Plumbing Fire Protection Controls/BMS Commissioning Temporary power and temporary HVAC when required Review and analyze: RFP packages Scope of Work documents Specifications Basis of Design Owner requirements Bid instructions Addenda Drawings Develop estimates even when drawings are incomplete or unavailable. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam. Build complete labor hour estimates and production rates. Develop detailed material pricing using company approved suppliers and vendor quotations. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor proposals. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, overlaps, and potential change order risks. Prepare detailed bid summaries and estimate recaps. Create value engineering alternatives. Develop complete cost breakdown structures and cost codes. Build estimate narratives explaining assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, risks, and recommendations. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors throughout the bidding process. Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information. Participate in estimate reviews and quality assurance before submission. Required Experience Minimum 8 years of estimating experience. Minimum 5 years estimating mission critical projects including: Data Centers Hyperscale Facilities Colocation Facilities Critical Infrastructure High Reliability Facilities Experience estimating projects valued from $10 million to $500+ million. Must have experience estimating: Medium Voltage Low Voltage Switchgear UPS Systems Generators Fuel Systems Busway Chilled Water Systems CRAH/CRAC Units Cooling Plants Mechanical Piping Plumbing Fire Protection Building Management Systems Controls Commissioning Integrated Systems Testing Technical Skills Required: Bluebeam Revu (Expert) Microsoft Excel (Advanced) PDF plan review Quantity takeoffs Cost analysis Vendor comparison Labor productivity analysis Preferred: Accubid Trimble Estimation ConEst QuoteSoft Procore Autodesk Construction Cloud Navisworks AutoCAD Revit (review level) Primavera P6 Microsoft Project What We're Looking For You should be able to: Read hundreds of pages of specifications quickly. Understand project intent, not just count quantities. Catch missing scope before the client does. Estimate projects with incomplete information. Think through constructability. Develop conceptual budgets using limited documentation. Clearly explain your estimate and the reasoning behind it. Communicate professionally with vendors and subcontractors. Produce accurate work with minimal supervision. Meet tight proposal deadlines. Work independently while maintaining excellent communication.
