Senior Mechanical Engineer / Industrial Product Designer for High Density Smart Device Locker

bout Us We are developing a next generation smart device storage system for enterprise customers including healthcare, logistics, education, government, and large commercial organizations. This is not a traditional locker project. The goal is to develop an ultra compact, high density phone storage system inspired by enterprise servers, hot swap drive bays, medical equipment, and industrial automation. We already have the software platform. This project focuses entirely on the mechanical product design. ⸻ The Challenge Current smart lockers are bulky because each compartment is designed like a miniature cabinet. We are looking for an experienced product designer or mechanical engineer to help invent a completely different architecture. The product should function more like: * Hot swap server drive caddies * Medical dispensing systems * Enterprise hardware * Industrial automation equipment * Modular electronic chassis Instead of hinged doors, we are exploring spring assisted sliding cassettes that securely store and charge enterprise smartphones while minimizing overall cabinet size. ⸻ Scope of Work The selected engineer will work with us to develop: Industrial Design * Overall product architecture * User interaction * Compact bay layout * Ergonomics * Manufacturing friendly enclosure Mechanical Engineering * Sliding cassette mechanism * Electronic latch integration * Blind mate charging connector * Rail system * Spring mechanisms * Serviceability * Structural design * Cable management * Electronics mounting Prototype Development * Complete CAD assembly * Exploded assemblies * Manufacturing drawings * BOM * Tolerance analysis * DFM review * 3D printable prototype files ⸻ Ideal Experience Please apply only if you have designed products similar to: * Server hardware * NAS systems * Medical devices * Automated dispensing systems * Kiosks * Vending equipment * ATMs * Industrial enclosures * Rack mount electronics * Modular products * Injection molded products ⸻ Required Skills * SolidWorks (preferred) * Fusion 360 * Inventor * Creo * Mechanical Engineering * Industrial Design * Product Development * Design for Manufacturing (DFM) * Injection Molding * Sheet Metal * Rapid Prototyping * CAD Assemblies * Tolerance Stack Analysis To Apply Please include: * Portfolio * Three products you designed from concept through manufacturing * Your role on each project * Experience designing moving mechanisms * Experience designing products with serviceable electronics * Experience with injection molded products
