Senior Mechanical/Product Development Engineer - Consumer Product Mechanisms

PROJECT OVERVIEW We are developing an innovative premium beach chair based on a novel architecture that rethinks how traditional beach chairs function. We have already built and tested a working prototype that validates the chair's ergonomics and user experience. We're now looking for an experienced mechanical/product development engineer to help solve several key mechanism design challenges before we build Prototype 2. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving difficult mechanical problems and isn't afraid to challenge existing designs. If you believe there is a simpler, stronger, more elegant solution than our current approach, we want to hear it. Ideal experience includes products involving: • Folding mechanisms • Aluminum tubular structures • Locking mechanisms • Hinges and pivots • Portable consumer products such as chairs, camping equipment, strollers, mobility products, exercise equipment, or similar ABOUT US We are not a large corporation outsourcing design work. We are inventors who have invested significant time, effort, and resources into developing this product. We are looking for an engineering partner who enjoys collaborating closely with passionate clients and helping transform an innovative concept into a commercially successful product. PHASE 1 - ENGINEERING ASSESSMENT & CONCEPTUAL SOLUTIONS Fixed Price: $500–$1,000 The objective of Phase 1 is to arrive at effective conceptual solutions for our core mechanical design challenges. A successful Phase 1 will establish the foundation for an ongoing engineering partnership. You will: • Review existing CAD and prototype information • Evaluate the four key engineering challenges • Develop conceptual engineering solutions for each challenge, including sketches where appropriate • Identify additional issues or opportunities not already identified • Participate in design review discussions as needed Assuming Phase 1 is successful, we will continue together into Phase 2, where you will help develop the selected concepts into production-oriented CAD through iterative engineering refinement. Price will be agreed before Phase 2 begins, based on the scope defined during Phase 1. This project has strong potential to evolve into an ongoing engineering partnership through prototype development, production engineering, FEA, manufacturing optimization, and product launch.
