Senior Mobile Developer — Telematics App

We're looking for an experienced senior mobile developer to take ownership of an existing, in-production telematics mobile app on both iOS and Android. This is not a greenfield build — you'll be modifying, extending, and supporting a live app used to monitor connected vehicles and equipment in the field. You should be comfortable stepping into an existing codebase, diagnosing issues quickly, and shipping reliable updates to both app stores. What you'll do Maintain, modify, and enhance an existing cross-platform telematics app for iOS and Android Build and support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto / Android Automotive OS experiences Implement and manage cloud-based push notifications (APNs and Firebase Cloud Messaging), including delivery reliability, targeting, and troubleshooting Integrate with backend telematics services and real-time vehicle/device data (location, status, alerts) Handle app store submissions, release management, and version updates for both platforms Debug production issues reported from the field and turn fixes around quickly Document changes and communicate clearly with a small, distributed team Required qualifications 6+ years of professional mobile development experience shipping apps to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Automotive and/or telematics experience is required — connected vehicle, fleet tracking, GPS/asset tracking, OBD/IoT device integration, or similar Hands-on experience with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto / Android Automotive OS Proven experience implementing and managing cloud-based push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging, APNs, or equivalent) Strong experience with a cross-platform framework (Flutter or React Native) plus working fluency in native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) for platform-specific work Experience consuming REST APIs and handling real-time data (WebSockets, MQTT, or similar) Comfortable owning a codebase independently — self-directed, communicative, and reliable Nice to have Bluetooth / BLE device pairing and communication Background location tracking and battery-efficient geolocation Offline-first data sync patterns CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, Bitrise, GitHub Actions, or similar) Experience working with cloud backends (AWS)
