Senior NetSuite-to-Power BI Data Architect | UK/Ireland Based, Part-Time, Initial 3-Month Engagement

Overview We are looking for a senior data/reporting specialist to support a 3-month diagnostic and stabilisation project for a mature Power BI reporting estate connected primarily to NetSuite. This is not a dashboard design role. The work is focused on data architecture, NetSuite-to-Power BI extraction, Power BI semantic modelling, report reverse-engineering, data validation, and target architecture design. The client is an Irish agriculture business with a mature but organically grown reporting estate. Reports are business-critical across Finance, Sales, Genetics, Operations and Management. The current estate needs to be reviewed, documented, stabilised and prepared for scale. Engagement model Part-time contractor role. Up to 20 hours per week. Initial 3-month engagement. Potential to extend. Remote-first. Must be UK or Ireland based. Must be available during core Irish business hours. Must be able to attend occasional onsite workshops in Ireland or the UK if required. Native-level professional English required. No agencies. Core requirement You must have direct experience connecting NetSuite to Power BI. Please do not apply if your experience is limited to dashboard design or generic Power BI reporting without NetSuite / ERP data extraction experience. Current environment The current reporting estate includes: Power BI reports and PBIX files. NetSuite data. Tactical Connect saved-search exports. SharePoint-hosted data sources. Some IQY / NetSuite report-based extracts. Some SFTP-derived data. Potential future move to SuiteAnalytics Connect / ODBC / SuiteQL. Potential Azure SQL staging layer. No formal dev/test/prod process currently. Limited version control currently. Initial focus areas Credit Control reporting Review and improve a report currently dependent on dated NetSuite balances through an IQY/personal gateway-style approach. Reverse-engineer complex Power BI logic around usage, stock, refunds, credits and discounts. MASTER report review Review the original/master reporting model to identify reusable logic, standard measures, duplicate logic and architecture risks. Target architecture Recommend the right future-state model for NetSuite-to-Power BI reporting, including extraction method, staging layer, semantic model design and governance. Required skills NetSuite-to-Power BI experience. SuiteAnalytics Connect, SuiteQL, SuiteTalk, RESTlets, ODBC/JDBC, or strong equivalent NetSuite extraction knowledge. Power BI semantic modelling. Power Query / M. DAX. SQL. Data modelling: facts, dimensions, star schema, slowly changing business logic. Azure SQL or similar staging-layer experience. Experience reverse-engineering existing PBIX files. Strong documentation discipline. Ability to validate Power BI outputs back to source system data. Comfortable working with finance/commercial reporting logic. Strong problem-solving ability. Nice to have Agriculture, ERP, inventory, stock, customer, contract or rebate/refund reporting experience. Experience replacing fragile Excel/IQY/manual data flows. Experience designing reporting governance and development standards. Experience with Power BI usage metrics and report rationalisation. Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure data platforms. First deliverables Within the first 2 weeks, we expect: Initial review of report estate. Data source map. Risk map. Critical report assessment. Recommended approach for Credit Control report. Initial view on Tactical Connect vs SuiteAnalytics Connect / ODBC / SuiteQL. Proposed target architecture direction. A Power BI report needs to calculate the true net customer spend per item for refund/rebate purposes. How would you inspect, model and validate this?
