Senior SEO consultant for a WordPress → Next.js migration (same domain, ~2,000 URLs)
Worldwide
We're moving an established local-services website from WordPress to a custom Next.js build on the same domain. Same brand, same domain, brand-new front end. The site is large for a local business: roughly 2,000 URLs, heavy on city and town landing pages across several service lines (water, mold, fire, and related restoration work) and multiple physical locations and Google Business Profiles across CT, NY, and MA. We've already done the heavy lifting on the engineering side: • A full 301 redirect map is built (close to 3,900 rules, old WordPress/RankMath URLs mapped to the new structure, no chains, no loops, no 404s in the map). • Schema, canonicals, sitemaps, and per-location NAP have all been rebuilt and audited. • We have a pre-launch checklist covering redirects, schema, technical, speed, content cannibalization, and AI-overview readiness. What we want from you is a senior second set of eyes before and after we flip the switch. Someone who has personally led same-domain replatform migrations and knows where they go wrong. Scope of the engagement: • Review our redirect map and URL-mapping strategy for gaps and risk. • Sanity-check the canonical, indexation, sitemap, and schema setup against how Google actually behaves today. • Advise on cutover sequencing and exactly what to monitor in the first 1 to 12 weeks (Search Console, rankings, crawl stats, Core Web Vitals). • Flag local-SEO-specific risks (multi-location, GBP, citation and NAP consistency). • Give us a realistic ranking-impact expectation and a recovery plan, not a guarantee. You're a fit if: • You've personally run real WordPress to headless / Next.js (or similar) migrations on the same domain, not just read about them. • You can read a redirect map and a sitemap and tell us what's wrong with it. • You're fluent in Google Search Console and you understand local and multi-location SEO. • You give straight answers. We don't want generic AI-generated audits or recycled checklists. This is a consulting and advisory engagement, not a content-writing or link-building gig. Hourly or fixed-scope, open to your recommendation. If it goes well, there's ongoing post-launch monitoring work. To apply, answer the screening question. Applications that ignore it, or that read like they were written by ChatGPT, will be skipped.
