Senior Shopify Developer – Subscriptions, Payments & Integrations

We are looking for an experienced Shopify developer or development team to help us design and build a new scalable e-commerce and subscription platform for our direct-to-consumer business. Our current technical environment is fragmented across WordPress, WooCommerce, custom PHP/Laravel systems and Viskan CRM. Our goal is to establish Shopify as the core commercial platform for all new customers and future growth, while allowing our existing subscription base in Viskan to continue operating separately during a transition period. This is not simply a Shopify theme or webshop project. We are looking for a technical partner who can help us define the right architecture and implement a platform that is scalable, operationally efficient and less dependent on custom development. The project will include: Designing the overall Shopify architecture Building and configuring the Shopify store Implementing a scalable subscription solution Supporting trial offers, recurring subscriptions, one-time purchases and post-purchase upsells Setting up customer self-service for subscription management Recommending and implementing the appropriate payment architecture Evaluating Shopify Payments, cards, Vipps/Vipps Recurring, Klarna and relevant Nordic payment methods Creating reusable campaign and landing-page components that our marketing team can manage without developer assistance Integrating Shopify with our warehouse and fulfilment workflow, including batch picking, packing slips, shipping labels and bulk fulfilment Integrating Shopify with our accounting platform, preferably Tripletex Integrating customer and subscription data with our email/CRM platform Ensuring reliable Meta/analytics tracking Designing the architecture for both Norway and future expansion into Sweden Creating clean integrations through APIs, webhooks or lightweight middleware where genuinely required Ensuring proper documentation, security, testing and ownership of the technical environment Our preferred approach is to launch Shopify first for new Dirty Clean customers in Norway, including both one-time purchases and subscriptions. Existing Viskan subscribers will initially remain in Viskan, which will gradually become a legacy/run-off system. A full migration of the existing subscription base is therefore not part of the initial implementation, but the new architecture should be designed so that a future migration remains possible. We prefer proven Shopify apps and standard platform functionality over unnecessary custom development. Custom development should only be introduced where it creates clear operational or commercial value. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience in: Shopify architecture Subscription commerce Shopify subscription platforms/apps Payment integrations Shopify Markets and Nordic e-commerce APIs and webhooks Warehouse and fulfilment workflows Accounting/ERP integrations Klaviyo, Brevo or similar CRM/email integrations High-converting campaign landing pages Post-purchase upselling Technical architecture and scalability Experience with Shopify Plus is relevant, but we expect the selected partner to advise us on the appropriate Shopify plan and technology stack rather than assuming that Shopify Plus is required. We are looking for someone who can provide both technical implementation and architectural advice. We want you to challenge our proposed setup where appropriate and recommend better alternatives if you believe there is a simpler, more scalable or more commercially effective solution. A detailed development brief describing our business model, current architecture, subscription requirements, payments, warehouse workflow, integrations and proposed implementation phases will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
