Senior Software Engineer, Backend

What you'll do: - Design and build backend features (APIs, microservices, backend algorithms, AI services) for a cloud-native SaaS platform - Use AI coding assistants daily to scaffold, generate, refactor, and test code, while owning the quality, security, and correctness of everything you ship - Diagnose and resolve performance and scalability issues, particularly at larger scale - Participate in code review and help shape team coding standards - Contribute to on-call support and occasional off-hours deployments (24x7x365 platform) - Mentor less experienced engineers where relevant What we're looking for: - Strong hands-on experience with .NET 8 or 10 using C# - Demonstrable daily use of AI coding assistants (Microsoft Copilot and/or Claude Code) -- you can speak confidently about how and when you rely on them vs. not - Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering: reviewing/validating AI-generated code, security and IP/licensing considerations, tool limitations - Commercial experience with Azure cloud-native or hybrid solutions (AWS/GCP considered for exceptional candidates) Experience with event-driven distributed systems, message brokers, and async messaging - Familiarity with Azure services: API Management, API Gateway, Cognitive Services, Cosmos DB, Azure Service Bus, AKS - Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, Nginx - Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills - NoSQL experience: Redis, MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Cosmos DB - Git source control (GitHub or Azure DevOps) - REST API / OpenAPI / MCP exposure
